"Come as you are and celebrate however you can..."
|
|
In honor of the annual National Screen-Free Week , join Westborough Connects, Westborough Recreation and several community partners for a week of unplugging (when we can!). We are encouraging everyone to “unplug” from entertainment and recreational screen time and explore what our community has to offer.
Due to the state and local pandemic regulations/guidelines, we are not able to host as many events this year. However, we will provide a few great ones scattered throughout the week. In addition, we will share ideas and suggestions to create and encourage healthy screen habits at home!
From the Screen-Free Week website:

"We all need time to unplug. But with the pandemic, what we all need around screens right now looks very different from household to household, from town to town. We’re in the same storm, different boats.
So, this year for Screen-Free Week 2021, we’re inviting you to come as you are and celebrate however you can, whether it’s by unplugging for one day, shutting off your phone at dinner time, spending more time outdoors, or taking the whole week to only use screens for work and school and enjoy some serious offline fun!..We don’t want to put any additional pressure on schools and organizations whose plates are overflowing, so we’re keeping it simple: participate as you can."

Hygge House Books will be onsite during both sessions, offering bookmarks to readers. During the family-friendly session on Wednesday, Westborough Connects will offer young readers a small "Reading Fuel" goody bag from BORO Sugar Shack (limited supply).
COVID-19 protocols will be followed.

Unplug and Explore Nourse Farm!
Nourse Farm will feature an animal alley, a guided geology hike, a seasonal recipe demo, as well as some self-guided walks. Seasonal produce purchases can be made in the Farm store.
With its rolling green hills, varied berry bushes and even its Hereford cattle, Nourse Farm offers the Westborough community a chance to unplug and reconnect with the natural beauty around us. Today's local food movement has created a surge of interest in buying local, fresh fruit and vegetables, and the farm is proud to showcase its greens, as well as, its green space as part of the weeklong Westborough Unplugs celebration.
The farm event will feature an animal alley (horses, cattle and calves), a guided geology hike, a seasonal recipe demonstration at the food trailer, as well as some self-guided walks. Seasonal produce purchases can be made in the Farm Store or off the early spring menu at Veg Out @ Nourse Farm.
Drop by anytime between 1 and 4pm. Registration is appreciated so we can plan accordingly.
