WCBA Alum Amicus Brain Named Semi-Finalist for the Longitude Prize on Dementia


Amicus Brain, a member of the 2023 cohort of the Westchester County Biosciences Accelerator, has been recognized and awarded £80k by Longitude Prize on Dementia for its work in simplifying care, saving time and increasing quality of life for families living with dementia across the globe. 


The Prize, funded by Alzheimer's Society and Innovate UK and delivered by Challenge Works, aims to drive the co-creation of personalized technologies to help people living with dementia enjoy independent and fulfilled lives.


Amicus Brain’s innovation centrally focuses on people who are losing skills to do the things they are passionate about and enables them to continue to do the things they enjoy. Its responsible AI-powered assistive technology helps with ‘broken speech’ and online communication, promoting digital inclusion for people living with dementia.  

Element 46 Tech Accelerator Powered by Cela Innovation Concludes Spring Cohort with Demo Day

 

The Element 46 Tech Accelerator Powered by Cela Innovation, Westchester County’s full-scale startup accelerator program, recently hosted a Demo Day to celebrate the accomplishments of its spring cohort. The event, which was attended by a carefully curated group of investors, advisors and peers, drew more than 100 attendees and featured pitches from 10 of Westchester County’s most groundbreaking tech startups.

The F.C. Sturtevant Company Restructures and

Plans Name Change


Effective July 1, 2023, The F.C Sturtevant Company will change its name to FCS, Inc. as part of a rebranding initiative. 

 

The F.C Sturtevant Company, located in Bronxville and founded in 1871, said the decision to rebrand reflects its commitment to growth and innovation and aligns with its visions and goals. Further, the company says the name change reflects its current identity and its diversified offerings. Brands under the F.C. Sturtevant Company umbrella include Columbia Skincare and Sturtevant Veterinary Remedies.

 

The Company blends science and nature to help make skin healthy to produce optimal skin wellness and beauty. All of its products are made in the United States using the highest quality medical grade ingredients, and they do not include any colorings or artificial fragrances in any of their formulations.

Novel Alzheimer’s Disease Approaches


Lisa Ricciardi, president and CEO of Purchase's Cognition Therapeutics, Inc.,

participated in a panel during Cantor Fitzgerald’s virtual Brain Week 2023 conference, held June 20-23, 2023. The panel of business and scientific experts from neuroscience-focused biotechnology companies discussed emerging targets and differentiated strategies aimed at addressing the complex mechanisms that drive Alzheimer’s disease.

The research is also useful when bringing new technologies from an early stage to investment ready. When it comes to commercializing new technology, knowing what you don’t know is half the battle. The ILC provides entrepreneurs and companies research important to identifying potential IP, market, and regulatory challenges and devise effective strategies to successfully bring that technology to market.
