A Story of a Good Deed

GOT A NEIGHBOR YOU WANT TO RECOGNIZE?

Remember that neighbors don’t have to live next door, just someone who lives in Westcreek. It could be as simple as a mom who helps out by picking up a child from school, a neighbor who cuts your yard for you just because, or brings in your trash cans. It does not have to be a grand gesture, just something that made your life easier, made you happy, or was just thoughtful.

If you would like to recognize their good deeds and show your appreciation, please submit your recommendation by a deadline of the 20th day of the month prior to publication to: frontoffice@villagesofwestcreek.com.

All candidate bios can be submitted via email or dropped off at the Villages of Westcreek office during regular business hours.

Everyone should have the chance to participate in the election and have their voice heard. That's why all candidate bios will be published in the March newsletter if turned in by the end of business Friday, February 7, 2025. Submitting your bio will also ensure your name is included on the ballot that will be included in the Annual Meeting notice mailed out later. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE VWOA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

As a homeowner in the Villages of Westcreek, it is important to understand the role and responsibilities of the Board of Directors for our Homeowners Association (HOA). Essentially, the Board is responsible for making decisions and taking actions that benefit the community.

One of the primary responsibilities of the Board is to enforce the rules and regulations set forth in the governing documents , such as the bylaws and covenants of the HOA. This includes ensuring that all residents follow these rules to protect amenities.

Additionally, the Board is responsible for managing the HOA’s finances, including creating and managing the annual budget, collecting assessments from homeowners, and overseeing any maintenance or repair projects to be completed.

Another important responsibility is to communicate with homeowners and keep them informed about important issues affecting the community. This includes holding regular meetings, distributing newsletters or other communications, and responding to residents’ concerns or complaints.

Ultimately, the Board of Directors is responsible for making decisions that promote the well-being of the community and ensure that it remains a desirable place to live, fulfilling their responsibilities with fairness and dedication.

The annual meeting for our HOA will be held April 17, 2025, and nominations are needed to fill the positions open for this year’s election. In understanding the responsibilities of a board member, if you are interested as a nominee or simply have questions, please contact the office at 210-679-8761

To have a great community, it takes great people working together.

Seguin is a hidden gem that offers plenty of fun things to do, from exploring the local history to enjoying outdoor activities. It’s about 53 miles away from Villages of Westcreek. It’s located to the east of San Antonio, south of I-10 and along Alt. US Highway 90.

One of the top attractions in Seguin is the Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center, also known as "The Big Red Barn." ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE
KNOW THE CODE. COMMUNITY STANDARDS!

SUCCESSFUL PIA SUBMISSION

It's clear that time is one of the most precious resources we all have; therefore, we are committed to working together to ensure a seamless transition when you submit your Property Improvement Application (PIA Form) to the Architectural Review Committee (ARC).

Please provide a complete application to help the ARC process your application on time. This will assist both parties in making the entire process more efficient and effective, resulting in a quick decision on your application.

Before submitting your PIA Form, we highly recommend reviewing the Standards for Architectural Design and Property Maintenance and the Property Improvement Application Submission Checklist guidelines. These guidelines will help you understand the rules, regulations, and guidelines for improvements and maintenance while ensuring you provide all the pertinent application information. Doing this will prevent delays or drawbacks during the review process, thus expediting an ARC decision to begin your improvement or project.

If you have any questions regarding the required information or process, please email the Front Office at FrontOffice@villagesofwestcreek.com or call the VWOA Office at 210-679-8761. The staff will be more than happy to answer any questions and guide you through the process. Thank you for being so cooperative; we look forward to working with you.

A row of colorful houses on a tree line street with picket fences. Community Safety and Crime Prevention!

THE IMPORTANCE OF ACTIVE CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT IN CRIME PREVENTION

As a resident of the Villages of Westcreek, it's important to be aware of the impact of crime in our community. When community members are not actively engaged in crime prevention, it can lead to increased crime rates, decreased property values, and an overall decrease in the quality of life for everyone in the neighborhood.

We can work together to create a safer and more secure community by actively participating in crime prevention. This means being vigilant of suspicious activity, reporting crimes or suspicious behavior to the authorities, and securing our homes and property. It's important to remember that crime prevention is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement but rather a shared responsibility that we all must take seriously.

When we work together to prevent crime, we not only make our community safer but also create a sense of unity and solidarity within our neighborhood. By showing that we care about the well-being of our community, we can deter criminals and make the Villages of Westcreek a less attractive target for criminal activity.

So, let's all do our part to prevent crime in our community. Being proactive and engaged can create a stronger and more secure neighborhood for ourselves and our families. Consider volunteering for the Cellular on Patrol Progam or organizing a Neighborhood Watch Progam..

A young woman handing a tray of baked cookies to her elderly neighbor. Love thy Neighbor!

The old year ended and a new year is upon us: 2025. An important time of year, February, is a time of reflection when Valentine’s Day turns our attention to loved ones. But let’s not forget the many in our community who may need a simple gesture of friendship.

It’s easy to feel isolated and alone, but together we can accomplish amazing things when we reach out to help a neighbor in need, offer a kind word, or a bit of support. As the saying goes, there is unity in community, and coming together to make our world a better place is not as hard as it may seem.

Kindness and compassion are free, offer it freely. Loving your neighbor as yourself is selfless, offer it selflessly. Make this Valentine’s Day one that really makes a difference.
