Outstanding Community Member Recognition - Ricardo Salina
I am honored to recommend my neighbor, Ricardo Salina, for recognition as an exceptional member of our community. He embodies the very best of what it means to be a neighbor and consistently demonstrates the values that make our community thrive.
Ricardo consistently goes above and beyond to support those around him—assisting neighbors with yard work, checking in on residents who might need help, and serving as a dependable presence everyone can count on. His kindness is never performative; he helps because he genuinely cares about the well-being of others.
As a former police officer and substitute teacher, Ricardo brings invaluable experience and perspective to our community. These roles have shaped his character in visible ways—he is patient, respectful, protective, and always ready to step up when support is needed. His presence brings a genuine sense of safety and trust that strengthens our entire neighborhood.
In an era when disconnection has become commonplace, Ricardo actively fosters community connection and engagement. He makes our neighborhood a better place to live—not only through his generous actions, but through the integrity and warmth of his character.
I am deeply grateful to have Ricardo as a neighbor, and I know many others share this sentiment. I wholeheartedly recommend him for this recognition, as his positive impact on our community is both significant and enduring.
Thank you for considering this well-deserved recognition.

GOT A NEIGHBOR YOU WANT TO RECOGNIZE?
Remember that neighbors don’t have to live next door, just someone who lives in Westcreek. It could be as simple as a mom who helps out by picking up a child from school, a neighbor who cuts your yard for you just because, or brings in your trash cans. It does not have to be a grand gesture, just something that made your life easier, made you happy, or was just thoughtful.
If you would like to recognize their good deeds and show your appreciation, please submit your recommendation by a deadline of the 20th day of the month prior to publication to: frontoffice@villagesofwestcreek.com.

On this special day, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for each and every one of you. The strength of our community lies in the connections we share, the kindness we offer, and the support we provide to one another.
On Valentine's Day, let's celebrate love in all its forms—whether it’s the love of friends, family, or the wonderful neighbors we've come to know and cherish. Let’s continue to spread joy and warmth throughout our community, lifting each other up and creating lasting memories together.

The old year ended and a new year is upon us: 2026. An important time of year, February, is a time of reflection when Valentine’s Day turns our attention to loved ones. But let’s not forget the many in our community who may need a simple gesture of friendship.
It’s easy to feel isolated and alone, but together we can accomplish amazing things when we reach out to help a neighbor in need, offer a kind word, or a bit of support. As the saying goes, there is unity in community, and coming together to make our world a better place is not as hard as it may seem.
Kindness and compassion are free; offer them freely. Loving your neighbor as yourself is selfless, offer it selflessly. Make this Valentine’s Day one that really makes a difference.

The Board’s Essential Responsibilities
Board members dedicate their time and expertise to serve in several critical capacities:

SUCCESSFUL PIA SUBMISSION
It's clear that time is one of the most precious resources we all have; therefore, we are committed to working together to ensure a seamless transition when you submit your Property Improvement Application (PIA) to the Architectural Review Committee (ARC).
Please provide a complete application to help the ARC process your application on time. This will assist both parties in making the entire process more efficient and effective, resulting in a quick decision on your application.
Before submitting your PIA Form, we highly recommend reviewing the Standards for Architectural Design and Property Maintenance and the Property Improvement Application Submission Checklist guidelines. These guidelines will help you understand the rules, regulations, and guidelines for improvements and maintenance while ensuring you provide all the pertinent application information. Doing this will prevent delays or drawbacks during the review process, thus expediting an ARC decision to begin your improvement or project.
If you have any questions regarding the required information or process, please email the Front Office at FrontOffice@villagesofwestcreek.com or call the VWOA Office at 210-679-8761. The staff will be more than happy to answer any questions and guide you through the process. Thank you for being so cooperative; we look forward to working with you.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ACTIVE CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT IN CRIME PREVENTION
As a resident of the Villages of Westcreek, it's important to be aware of the impact of crime in our community. When community members are not actively engaged in crime prevention, it can lead to increased crime rates, decreased property values, and an overall decrease in the quality of life for everyone in the neighborhood.
We can work together to create a safer and more secure community by actively participating in crime prevention. This means being vigilant of suspicious activity, reporting crimes or suspicious behavior to the authorities, and securing our homes and property. It's important to remember that crime prevention is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement but rather a shared responsibility that we all must take seriously.
When we work together to prevent crime, we not only make our community safer but also create a sense of unity and solidarity within our neighborhood. By showing that we care about the well-being of our community, we can deter criminals and make the Villages of Westcreek a less attractive target for criminal activity.
So, let's all do our part to prevent crime in our community. Being proactive and engaged can create a stronger and more secure neighborhood for ourselves and our families. Consider volunteering for the Cellular on Patrol Program or organizing a Neighborhood Watch Program.
