If you have been affected and unable to make your HOA assessment payments, please email the office staff or Community Manager with your request for relief of the late fees assessed. We will review each request on a case by case basis and communicate back to each homeowner individually.

PERGOLAS AND GAZEBOS - DIFFERENCES AND SIMILARITIES
As the weather improves many homeowners may be planning to build an outdoor structure in their backyard to accommodate social gatherings.
This month we thought we would discuss the differences and similarities between Pergolas and Gazebos.
|
|
A Pergola is an outdoor garden feature forming a shaded walkway, passageway, or sitting area of vertical posts or pillars.
The roofing has an open roofing system such as crossbeams and/or sturdy open lattice. Open beam rafter-type roofs must match the type of wood and color of the structure’s framework.
Some Pergolas may include a canvas roof that must be well maintained with the color compatible with the dwelling. Homeowners may plant climbing vines to cover the top of the Pergola.
|
|
A Gazebo, on the other hand, is an outdoor shade structure with a solid roofing system and partially open sides, that can even be screened in.
Solid roofs must be compatible with the same type, material, style, color, texture, and roof shingles on the dwelling.
|
|
Gazebos and Pergolas are approvable under the following conditions:
- Placement/location must be behind the dwelling.
- Size is limited to one hundred forty-four (144’) square feet and twelve (12’) feet in height.
- Made of wood, wood composite, powder-coated metal, or resin materials.
- Treated wood may be left natural, clear-sealed, stained, and or painted.
- Untreated wood must be sealed, stained, or painted.
- Color must be complementary to the property.

LET'S GET DIRTY!
Cool-season annuals are probably ready to be pulled out of the garden to make room for warm-season annuals. After clearing out cool-season annuals, rework your bed by removing weeds, turning soil, and adding 3-4” of compost mixed in well. Take care to thoroughly water newly planted beds (morning is best).
Cotton Burr compost or Foxfarm Soil conditioner are great ways to improve the soil. Warm season annuals that can now be planted include Petunias, Angelonia, Mandevilla, Vinca, Hibiscus, New Guinea impatiens, Crossandra, Persian Shields, and more.

Frogfruit
Sun/part shade; semi-evergreen. Frogfruit is a low-growing, low-maintenance groundcover that spreads quickly, mixes freely with grasses, and clambers over baskets and walls. The tiny flowers attract butterflies. Frogfruit is commercially available (in California it is sold as “Kurapia sod”), but it can also be found growing in sunny natural areas. It transplants easily. Perfect for the floor of a rain garden.
