Dear Westerly Community,

The class of 2003 celebrated their 20th Reunion this past weekend, as Alex, alum and board chair shares below. We are happy to help facilitate events if you want to host them on campus, just reach out to Molly O’Brien or me with your ideas and timing (advancement@westerlyschool.org).

Alumni Social & Fall Jamboree

This Sunday, October 22

An event we hope you’ll join us for is the upcoming Jamboree on Sunday, October 22nd from 3:00-6:00pm. We are hosting a special preview alum party at 2:00pm before the big event. Join us in the Community Room on campus (2950 E. 29th Street, Long Beach) and please RSVP here.

There’ll be swag and treats, your whole family is welcome to join us. The activities will be adult and kid friendly, from sack races to musical cakes and a maze. Some special guests will be making appearances, besides you. Find our alumni tent with memorabilia, and feel free to bring your own to share.

Connect with Us!

We love reconnecting with our alumni and hearing stories about their experiences they’ve had since Westerly. Please email advancement@westerlyschool.org and share milestones, Westerly class connections and what you’re up to, as we’ll post this monthly as part of our Reconnecting with Westerly. Additionally, update your contact info and let us know what you've been up to since Westerly, or if you’re willing to mentor or network with current students, recent alums, or even peers who may be looking at switching careers or fields.

Thank you to ‘18 alum Jessie Garvey for sharing this reflective quote with us:

“I always talk about how thankful I am to Westerly teachers and staff. Without them, I wouldn't have been where I am today. David Perram helped with that immensely and I will forever be grateful for how much he helped me in middle school.”

This time of year I’m hosting grade level coffees and get-to-know-you's for families on campus. It’s a great chance to connect and share about the school, the work we’re doing to boost enrollment, retention and to align the school on topics ranging from social curricula to math program review and homework.

It’s hard to believe that some alum’s are now parents of Westerly School aged children. I’d love to hear from parents what you remember and value of your experience here at Westerly, how that translates to what you seek in your own children’s education and how those values and needs may have shifted over time. Do consider visiting us while school is in session, we love to show off the quality of our program. Until then, I hope to see you on campus for any of our events, or feel free to call and share your Westerly story!
