Who needs to complete a 2019-20 volunteer application/registration?
- New adult volunteers
- The parents of new and returning volunteers 14 to 17 years of age (to give parental consent for their youth to participate as volunteers)
- Volunteers changing Scout Groups - whether in another part of the country, or in a neighbouring community
- Previously active volunteers who are returning to Scouting after a break (so are not registered for the current Scouting year)
- People who were registered for 2018-19 but did not complete requirements to be active or otherwise did not "renew". (These folks should only re-apply/register after all required training has been completed.)
Individuals wanting to volunteer log into their "MyScouts" accounts and click to "Volunteer" from the left-side menu or upper right corner of the page.
New applicants should be primed with contact information (first and last name, email address, daytime phone number - cell preferred) for five people willing to serve as references for them.
Please note: relatives are no longer accepted as references.
For more on References, see items 5-7 of
Procedure 21 - the Volunteer and Employee Screening Procedure.
What about Rovers?
Rover Scouts are
Participants 18 to 26 years of age. As with other participants, they have to be registered/renewed annually. (The difference: being adults, they self-register.)
Odd as it is, Rovers click to "Register My Child" to begin self-registration. (On the "My Family" page, they should choose their existing profile/account and not "Add Child".)

This person already has a profile in MyScouts. Can I register him/her?
No. All volunteers must be self-registered (except youth under 18 who must be registered by a parent) online to review and accept the Terms and Conditions of membership, and consent to the Scouter (or Participant) agreement.
This Scouter has an "Active" role with our Group, but will be taking on another. Does he/she have to self-register for the other role?
No. For Scouters who are already screened, trained and approved for
your Group, you can use the "Add Volunteer Role" option in their profiles. (Please do not use "Register a Volunteer".)
