From Our Principal

Good morning WHS families,

This past week was extremely busy at WHS!  While we are preparing for the end of the year activities and thinking about next year, we had a lot of great events.  Last week, we wrapped up our Winter sport seasons with banquets.  We held our annual Wellness day event that featured a class presentation on a variety of topics and over 40 vendors.  Our students held an after school justice fair.  There was active debate and voter registration opportunities amongst other things. We concluded the week with a blood drive, sponsored by student council, and the annual Dollars for Scholars basketball game.  This was a tremendous event that the PTA sponsors.  It had a minor adjustment as well, that added some additional excitement for the younger students in the district!

Over the weekend, I sent a blast to all families with the updated March 20 ACT schedule.  Additionally, later today you will receive a blast that includes the "End of Course" and AP test schedules. This will also be posted on the WHS webpage later this weekSenior parents:  be on the lookout for the Senior Calendar of events flyer.  It will also be posted on-line.  As we move into the week there are several events happening.
  • March 19 -  The State of the Schools in the PAC at 7 p.m.
  • March 20 - ACT testing for the Juniors.  Delayed start for the 9/10/12 grade students. 11:30-12:00 p.m. is lunch for 9/10/12 grade students. 1st period starts at 12:00 p.m.
  • March 20 - Open Forum related to the proposed Drug Testing Program at LBMS 6:30 p.m.
  • March 21 -  Band trip to Walt Disney World
As always, I encourage you to review the WHS announcements  - t hey are a great source of information that are updated daily.  I also encourage all families to review the Westlake City Schools Profile  - i t is filled with lots of information related to our school district.  And lastly, important dates relating to our students are listed below.

.
Right now, we are working to gather items and we hope you will help! Themed gift baskets are welcome!  We know it's not always possible to put together a whole gift basket, so perhaps you can contribute by donating a gift card to an area business or an individual item that kids or an adult would enjoy such as a game, toy, craft, or jewelry.  Sport items or tickets are always a big hit as well. Previous year's basket themes include Cleveland Sports, movie night, craft kits, yoga, games, picnic basket, grilling items, summer fun, and more. Maybe you have unopened Christmas gifts in your closets that would make great donations for the raffle!   If you have a basket, gift card or item to donate, please contact Amy Mogyordy at  216-402-7318 or [email protected]. Items will be collected through the end of April.
