We are three days away from the Lord's Day. How seriously do you prepare for our corporate meeting with God? To paraphrase the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Lord's Day is kept holy unto the Lord when men prepare their hearts and order their common affairs beforehand (WCF 21.8). Is Saturday night marked by preparation for worship in your home? Do you take time to pray on Saturday night and Sunday morning that God would indeed meet with us in life-altering ways? Do you take intentional steps to ensure that you are not rushed or late for worship on Sunday morning?
Fearing, loving, praising, and worshiping God with all of our heart, soul, and strength is not something into which we simply "slide" or "drift." It takes forethought, focus, and planning. I warmly encourage you to seek God's help in preparing for corporate worship in meaningful ways. I will pray to that end on your behalf.
This Lord's Day, we again have the joyous privilege of placing the covenant sign and seal upon one of our covenant children. I remind you in advance of the solemn vow you will take as a congregation. It asks, "Do you as a congregation undertake the responsibility of assisting the parents in the Christian nurture of this child?" May God give abundant grace to us in the keeping of our covenant vows.
