Prayer List

Friends,

I am filled with joy and gratitude as I share with you that after 8 years of not being to visit to the land of my birth, today, June 19th I am finally heading to Hungary/Romania.

Thank you for the lovely send-off in and after worship on Sunday. Your support, love and prayers mean so much to me. I look forward to visiting with family and friends in Hungary and Romania, inhale the mountain air of the Carpathian, and doing some sightseeing. There is a "business" side to my travel as well since I need to renew my various documents and get a visa stamp for my return to the US. My visa appointment at the US Embassy in Budapest is on July 25. I covet your prayers that all these processes will go smoothly. I plan to return to the US on July 31.

During my time away, I won't send the regular mid-week emails. Instead, you are invited to follow my trip through a weekly travel blog that I will send you. You will be able to read about my experiences and see pictures of some of the places I will visit. That way we'll stay connected.

While I travel, you will be able to enjoy the preaching of my pastor colleagues, who will fill in as guest preacher. Members of our congregation will join in worship leadership as liturgists.

Rev. Dr. Tom Shaw will be the primary contact for pastoral emergencies. You can reach him via email at woostershaws@aol.com or by phone (land line): 330-260-0295.

Our office administrator Rev. Dr. Jim Henery is ready to assist you with your questions. Please feel free to email at wpcwooster@gmail.com or call the Church Office at 330-263-2398.

Rev. Erin Guzmán is also available for pastoral needs. Her contacts are: eguzman@wooster.edu and cell 319-240-1209.

During these coming weeks, may the Spirit guide and keep us. I will travel nurtured by our mutual love and care for one another, and look forward to sharing about my experience upon my return.

We pray for

  • those who are healing from medical procedures, and who are dealing with ongoing health concerns in our midst;
  • those in our community who are unhoused;
  • those who are overwhelmed by the difficult personal situations;
  • those affected by extreme weather conditions and ensuing natural disasters worldwide--heat, floods, landslides;
  • all who live in the midst of violence and war - in Gaza, the West Bank and Israel, Haiti, South Sudan, Ukraine, and many other places across the world; we call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and tangible expressions of working for peace for all people of those lands;
  • your peace, O God, to overcome our dependence on violence and warfare;
  • those who strive for justice, may their voices be heard and heeded;
  • in thanksgiving for all who use their skills and resources for the common good;
  • your church to build up the beloved community across the world.

Come, Holy Spirit!

Move in and through us, whisper hope into every corner of despair.

May we embody God's light, love, compassion, and hope to all we encounter.

14th Annual Break the Cycle

Westminster will once again be a Gold Sponsor of Break the Cycle in support of OneEighty on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Our church's donation will support treatment and prevention services for the homeless working with OneEighty. Last year we fielded a team of 20 bikers and walkers. Walkers and bikers can choose to begin their walk or ride at the fairgrounds in Wooster or at the Hipp Station in Millersburg.

If you would like to bike or walk with our Westminster Team, please complete a registration form and return it to Lemoine Peart at church or to her mailbox in the church office. Registration forms are available in Mackey Hall, the church office or from any Benevolences Committee member.

There is no cost to participate if you turn in your paper registration and release forms at church. If you sign up by Sunday at church by July 28, you will receive a free Break the Cycle T-shirt on the day of the event.

For more information check out the Break the Cycle website or email or call Lemoine at lwmn@bright.net or 330-624-7506 (home).

Hope to see you there!

  • meet with your age group every other Wednesday from 9:00 am to 2:00 p.m (There will also be some local field trips)
  • choose where your interest lies: learning themes, kitchen help, outdoor activities, art, drama and dance projects, etc.
  • choose as many days or half-days as your schedule permits.

Contact Cheryl Weiss via email for more information. A knowledge of Spanish is not needed.

Helping out with the Kids' Camp is fun and rewarding!

Prayer Request and Privacy Laws

Please note, that because of government privacy laws, hospitals and care centers no longer are allowed to notify churches that a person has been admitted (even if the person lists their home church at admission). The only way that the church staff will know if someone is hospitalized is if a family member or friend lets us know. We'd rather get 20 calls about the same person than none! Thanks for your help in making Westminster a caring community. Contact the Westminster Office by phone 330-263-2398 or email to notify the church if you or someone you know is hospitalized or otherwise in need of our prayers!
