Zoom Sunday School Takes a Break

Pentecost Sunday, May 28, will be our last Zoom Sunday school for children before the summer break. Teachers Bev Machin, Eva Stimson, and Jerry Van Marter are grateful for the small but faithful group of children who have joined us on Sunday mornings for Bible stories, music, and conversation. We are also grateful for our crazy friend Sid (Luke Van Marter) who enlivened our online gatherings. Who knew learning about the Bible could be so much fun?!

Pentecost Sunday, May 28, 2023

Come and feel the wind of God’s Spirit among us as we celebrate the birthday of the church on Pentecost Sunday, May 28. You are invited to wear something red, as we remember the “tongues of fire” that marked the coming of the Holy Spirit to Jesus’ followers in Acts 2.

• Pentecost Worship

Our worship service will include expressions of gratitude for children’s Sunday school teachers Bev Machin, Eva Stimson, Jerry Van Marter, and Luke Van Marter; and for youth group leaders Rebecca Barnes, Chris Bischoff, and Luis Kemmerle. We will also recognize graduates Alek Kissell (high school) and Noah Wilding (college), and have a renewal of our covenant commitment.

• Pentecost Offering

Please bring a generous contribution (or give online) to the Pentecost Offering, one of the four special offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), which benefits ministries for children at risk, youth, and young adults. CHPC will give 40% of offering receipts to Cedar Ridge Camp.

• Pentecost Potluck

Plan to stay after worship for a Pentecost Potluck lunch in Henry Young Hall and fun activities for all ages. Please bring a generous dish to share. There will be red desserts, music, chalk drawing, and other activities on the plaza in front of the church, weather permitting. If you play a musical instrument, you are invited to bring it to help us make a joyful noise (let’s revive the drum circle!). We are inviting people in the community to stop by, so please help us show hospitality to our closest neighbors!

Please bring a nonperishable food item for UCHM. They need canned meats.

There will be a congregational meeting on

Sunday, June 4, 2023, following worship.
