THIS IS THE SUNDAY!

Our first recital of the Music for a Summer Afternoon 2022 Recital Series takes place this Sunday, July 10 at 2:00pm in the sanctuary. I will be playing a program of contemporary music for piano by some of my favorite living composers. Joined by Doug Yeager on flute, you’ll hear music by Michael Nyman, Ludovico Einaudi, Richard Rodney Bennett, Gabriel Yared, and others. To reflect the theme of “summer music,” all of the selections are rather laid back and easy listening.

One of the reasons our Music Ministry is sponsoring this recital series is to give the church family the opportunity to gather outside of worship for fellowship. That said, there will be light refreshments after the recital and an opportunity to visit with your church friends. The recitals will all be free and open to everyone, so plan to bring friends.

There will be an offering plate in the narthex for a free-will offering to be used in the church’s outreach programming.

I hope to see each of you Sunday afternoon for the first of these casual summer programs. Enjoy the music, the refreshments, and the fellowship, as we celebrate summer together.

Can We Talk?

Tools for Conversations about Racial Justice

Tuesday, July 19 & 26, 10am - 12pm

Do you wish you felt more skillful when talking about racial justice? Do you either avoid the difficult conversations or get into them, only to find yourself frustrated, dismayed, tongue-tied, or uncertain? How do we help create space so that both parties have a chance to speak honestly and be heard? How do we move from “us” and “them” to a greater sense of shared vision? How do we express ourselves in a way that is authentic, clear, and grounded?
