Highlights of February 28 Session Meeting
This was our first Session meeting with our new pastor, Rev. Tami Recob. We are grateful to have her and look forward to her ministry with our congregation.
Overture to General Assembly (G.A.) Related to the Conflict in Israel-Palestine: Eva Stimson and Soni Castleberry were CHPC’s commissioners at the Feb. 24 meeting of Mid-Kentucky Presbytery (MKP) when the overture that our Session endorsed last month was considered. Enough presbyteries passed the overture and it now moves to the General Assembly. For more information on the overture, click here.
Among its other actions, the Session:
▪ Approved the minutes of the Jan. 24 Session meeting.
▪ Approved some revisions in the budget for 2024. It will be presented at the Annual Meeting this Sunday.
▪ Approved a 2024 Mission Partnerships budget of $12,000 which was recommended by the Outreach/Nurture Committees and gave thanks that our smaller church could give so generously.
▪ Approved a request by the Rev. Ginny Brown to expand her Chair Yoga classes to add an additional one-hour weekly class. Classes will now be offered Mondays and Thursdays in the Gathering Room of the back building. Each class is a $10 personal donation from all who can and Ginny will pay $25 from each class to CHPC. Classes are open to members and the community-at-large.
▪ Agreed to allow a non-member to host an AA group meeting at CHPC. Details are still being arranged.
▪ Decided to have a potluck before the Annual Congregational Meeting on March 10.
▪ Discussed structure of committees and agreed to add a called meeting for Wed., March 13 at 6 p.m. to allow more time to review current responsibilities of committees and how those might be changed or merged.
