Give to the Peace & Global Witness Offering
The peace of God, which is central to the gospel, starts with us! By giving to the Peace & Global Witness Offering, one of four special offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), you can help sow seeds of peace by addressing violence and systems of injustice in our own community and around the world.
Participating congregations designate 25 percent of the offering to support ministries of their choosing. The remainder of the offering supports peacemaking and justice work of our presbytery and the PC(USA). The offering is collected on or before World Communion Sunday, October 6. You may give online or mail a check to the church. Please give generously!
Session has voted that CHPC’s 25 percent of the offering go toward an art piece by Craig Kaviar for the front plaza. Craig has proposed a piece called “Healing the Earth,” made of metal from guns collected at Guns to Gardens events plus other donated metal.

OPS and NOW and Homemade Soup
Everyone is invited to gather in the Henry Young Fellowship Hall for homemade soup at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9. Come and sample several delicious soups, enjoy the fellowship, and stay for continued discussion of our church community and mission.
Our discussions will take place in two committees:
- OPS (Operations) Committee - Guides the work of stewardship and giving, finances, budget, personnel, upkeep of building and grounds.
- NOW Committee - Guides programmatic work of the congregation, including music and worship, Christian formation, earth care, gun violence prevention, garden ministry, outreach to the community, Guatemala partnership and overseas mission.
Even if you are not sure about serving on a “committee,” please join us for the food and a chance to get to know others in our church community.

High School Youth Group Going to Huber's!
Saturday, October 19, at 1:30 p.m.
After a fun kick-off meeting in the youth room in August, followed by an excellent road adventure together to IKEA in September, the high school youth group plans to celebrate the fall by heading up to Huber's together.
We will meet in the church parking lot on Saturday, October 19, at 1:30 p.m., and return by approximately 5:30 p.m. If possible, it would be great if each youth member could bring $20 to cover activity fees and light supper on the way home (probably Subway), their own water bottle, any car snacks desired (optional), and clothes/shoes appropriate for hayride/maze/walking through pumpkin patches.
As always, please don't let money be an issue. If someone is unable to afford all or any of the fee, the church youth budget line will pick it up, so please don't be shy about letting that need be known. Please RSVP to Rebecca Barnes so she will have accurate counts for transportation.
