Second Sundays with Sid

The first once-a-month gathering of our Zoom Sunday school is this Sunday, October 8, from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. (or whatever time that is in Malawi!). We will show several Sid videos and have a little informal time to catch up and discuss the Bible stories. All elementary-aged children and the young at heart are invited join us October 8 and feel free to bring pets and friends. We look forward to seeing everyone!

Introducing Your Bridge Pastor

Dear Beloved of God,

I am happy to share that the Reverend Paul Seebeck will serve as Crescent Hill PC's part-time bridge pastor from October 23 to mid-February 2024. The Session's invitation to Paul was approved by the Presbytery's Committee on Ministry on Monday, October 2.

The congregation knows Paul. He has worshiped with you for several years. As bridge pastor, he will collaborate with the staff and worship committee to plan and oversee worship services, moderate Session and congregational meetings, offer pastoral support, and carry out other responsibilities typically fulfilled by a pastor. 

Having a bridge pastor will give the Session more time to make an informed decision in securing a long-term pastor. Please pray for Paul, the Session, and the Deacons as they lead CHPC in these next few months. Trust that God is working within your congregation, guiding you toward a faithful future.

Congregational Meeting

We will have a congregational meeting on Sunday, October 15, after worship to hear a report from the Nominating Committee and elect officers for 2024.

Autumn Under the Cedars

Fall is here and it is that time again to support the ministry of Cedar Ridge Camp by attending Autumn Under the Cedars, the annual fundraising dinner. The event takes place on Friday, October 13 at 6:00 pm. One highlight this year is that part of the event will be in the new chapel!

A Note from Tim McNinch

Dear CHPC friends,

I wanted to let you all know that I will be finally defending my PhD dissertation (in Hebrew Bible) on Tuesday, October 10, in Atlanta. This marks the end of a long journey! I would be glad for your prayers as the big day approaches. I have been enjoying my new position as a professor at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, and now (God willing) I’ll have the credentials to go with it! Next stop: ordination... stay tuned!

Thank you for your support during my graduate study over the past almost decade, and for your care during my time in the PCUSA ordination process.
