The Big Circle

“I’m really happy that we came together in a circle.”

“We've got all the resources we need to be faithful to God. Let's get on with it!”

“We must maintain the vibrant worship that has had such a long tradition at Crescent Hill.”

“I’m getting tired.”

“I’m thinking seriously about leaving this congregation.”

“I’m very hopeful.”

“The sky’s the limit to what we can do. But it needs to be fun. God wants us to do what we love.”

These were just a few of the multitude of comments voiced in a lively two-hour conversation last Sunday about “the state of the church.” Nearly 40 people gathered in a big circle in the Henry Young Fellowship Hall for worship, followed by a frank discussion about the future of Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church. At least 8 people participated on Zoom and sent comments via the Chat feature. Almost everyone present spoke or shared their thoughts later by email.

Updated Church Directories Are Here!

An updated directory of CHPC members is now available. Click here for your copy. The directory is a valuable tool to help us stay connected with our church community.

Session approved a process for updating the directory, which has been underway since early in the year. All members who had not been engaged in the life of the congregation in some way over the past year (worship attendance, financial gifts, active in a church ministry, etc.) were sent a letter asking whether they wanted to remain on the list of active members. Those who did not respond to the letter were sent two follow-up emails.

The new directory contains only names and contact information for members who have been active in some way over the past year or who requested to remain on the active list. Names and contact information for all those who did not respond to the letter or emails, or who requested to be dropped from the roll of active members, have been moved to a “friends list.” These folks will still receive pastoral care if needed and their contact information is available from the church office by request.

We are grateful for the hard work of Megan and Peggy in updating the directory and to deacons and others who reached out to our members for updates in status and contact information. Please send any changes or corrections to the new directory to the church office.
