CHPC's High School Youth Group

September Gathering!

Our next youth group is going to be SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 10 at

4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

We'll meet at the picnic tables at Hogan's Fountain area of Cherokee Park-- the ones across the street from the main parking lot there-- to have a snacky-supper (finger foods most likely), games, cards, and fun!

Bring your water bottle (sunscreen/hat if needed!), and any soccer balls, frisbees, basketball, instruments, board/card games that spark your interest and we will bring a few group game things as well as our beloved Uno! (Rain location -- youth room at Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church.)

If you need a ride, or for questions, contact Rebecca (502-415-3339 or revrebeccabarnes@gmail.com), Chris or Luiz. We had so much fun at Cedar Ridge and can't wait to get together again!

Special Sunday Morning Gathering

On Sunday, September 17, we will gather in the Henry Young Fellowship Hall at 11:00 a.m. for a "State of the Congregation" discussion. This will take the place of worship in the sanctuary. The Session encourages everyone to attend this important conversation. We will present information about the current status of the congregation and plans for our continued ministry together. Your input is important to us.

A continental breakfast will begin at 10:30 a.m.

The Big Table

Come Hungry, Leave Fulfilled

Sunday, September 10

Bring your favorite dish and make Louisville a better place by sharing your story. The intention is to create a space for folks of all beliefs and backgrounds to come together. Planners say that magical things happen when folks in Louisville share a meal. We talk. We connect. We heal. We build a community.

RSVP to cathyberkey@gmail.com at Interfaith Paths to Peace for a great potluck and fun this Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Iroquois Park, 2120 Rundill Road.

Table hosts will help your party share stories and answer fun prompts to get to know one another. Help feed 8 persons by buying or making one of your favorite foods to bring with serving utensils. Personal ware will be provided. Bring your own drink (not alcoholic nor glass). After dinner there will be a pickup soccer game in the open field, a drum circle near the amphitheater, and an instrument jam near the playground. Bring what you would like to use to participate.

Soni Castleberry plans to go and can take three others with her. If more want to go and need rides, we will work out something. Register NOW for “the big table" and then if you would like a ride, call/text Soni at 502-417-6481 or email soni.castleberry@gmail.com.

Visiting Church Leaders from El Salvador and Guatemala

One of half a dozen official Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) International Peacemakers this fall, Abdias Noemí Iglesias Sánchez, will have an early lunch with Crescent Hill folks from 11:15 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 21 (note the new time and day), at the Payne Street Bakery at 225 South Spring Street (at Spring and Payne in Irish Hill).

CHPC folks are also hosting Iglesias Sánchez and her translator, PC(USA) Regional Liaison Leslie Vogel, and are trying to schedule a suppertime/dinner opportunity to visit with them. Contact Perry Chang at (502) 457-7833 or perrydchang@gmail.com if you’d like to help with the hosting, might like to make it to a suppertime conversation/meal, or might like to take the pair on an outing around town.

Iglesias Sánchez is a Reformed church leader in El Salvador who has worked in youth ministries and in reforming the Reformed church there.
