Our music for this July 3 concert will be Leslie Rodriguez and John McClure

This father-daughter duo is well known in Louisville. They began playing at local open mics when Leslie was a teenager. The family moved to Nashville in 2004 and Leslie began writing music. She and John made two CDs during her college years at Belmont. During this time they returned briefly to Louisville and performed music from Leslie’s albums on Kentucky Homefront which was recorded at Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church. Leslie then toured with the Americana band Humming House for five years (2013-2017). Leslie and her husband Javier, and their two children moved to Louisville in 2016, and John and Annie retired back to Louisville in 2021. Since then they have resumed to playing as a duo around the Louisville area.

SHOULD CHPC HAVE A MEMORIAL GARDEN?

Are you interested in working with Rebecca Barnes and Soni Castleberry to develop a response to this question? Or can you add suggestions for consideration? If so, please contact Soni Castleberry at (502) 417-6481 or soni.castleberry@gmail.com. Among other important things, the location of a memorial garden will have to be considered.

Word has it that ashes may already have been placed on the church property by previous family members in our church community. We do not need names, but if anyone knows the general location of such scatterings or burials, it would be helpful to have that information. Likewise, please share information on other nearby churches who have such areas or researched it and declined.

The question was considered by Session in May in response to an email inquiry from Rebecca Barnes who also offered to coordinate research on the possibility of a memorial garden for either sprinkled or buried ashes on the church property. Session accepted Rebecca’s offer to lead this effort and Soni Castleberry, Session member, will work with Rebecca. Now we ask you to join them in this endeavor.
