We love these sweet Christmas cards created by our own Margaret Juergenson for the Human Kindness Foundation, an organization that works to ensure that every NC death row inmate receives a Christmas card. 79-years-young and a former art teacher, Margaret was eager to help when Cherrie approached her about the HKF project, creating more than 100 hand-drawn cards. There are 132 people on death row in North Carolina, which means that Margaret has single-handedly made a card for almost every one of them. This is a kind of love to which we all might aspire. Thank you, Margaret, for your heart and your art!
Dear Westminster PC,

Almost every Monday, two very special Westminster “rock stars” - Tom & Faye Shaffer - make their way to Iglesia Emanuel with an armful of food to donate to the food pantry. Just seeing their faces always brings joy to our hearts, so we wanted to celebrate them. Yesterday, Faye came bedecked in Christmas cheer, including a snazzy little red hat! Tom was apologetic that he had not worn his hat, but that just let us delight all the more in Faye’s bright red sweater. This wonderful couple has blessed us repeatedly with thoughtful touches, including a tin of homemade Christmas cookies (so yummy!). During this endless pandemic, we praise God for the unexpected gifts of joy he has sent our way.

All warmest wishes,
Margaret and Miguel Rubiera

Congratulations to Andy Feiler, a member of WPC Youth and a Jordan High School freshman, who illustrated Durham Public School Foundation's 2019-20 Annual Report. Great job, Andy! Inventive and fun, Andy's artwork takes the annual facts and stats to a whole new level. Check it out!

Christmas Eve at Westminster

Like everything this year, Christmas Eve at Westminster will be different, but it will still be meaningful.

From 2:00-4:00pm, come to the Courtyard for a time of individual prayer and reflection. Get a candle, light it from the Advent wreath, pray with one of the pastors, or just stand in the Courtyard for a bit of peaceful meditation. Also, if you ordered a poinsettia, you can pick it up from the Narthex. Be sure to wear a face covering and maintain physical distancing when you're on Westminster's campus.

At 7:00pm, gather at home for a joyful Christmas Eve worship service on YouTube. Many have been working hard to create a worship service that brings together Westminster's beloved Christmas traditions, adapted for these together-apart times. Tune in at 6:45pm to catch wonderful preludes performed by Jim Ketch and Monica, then stick around after the benediction for the postludes – the combination of which essentially amounts to an awesome free Christmas concert in the comfort of your home. Make plans to join us, and invite your family and friends to watch, too! Download the Christmas Eve bulletin.
Christmas Offering for Iglesia Presbiteriana Emanuel

Iglesia Presbiteriana Emanuel has been selected as the sole recipient of Westminster’s 2020 Christmas Offering. Since the pandemic began, Iglesia Emanuel's food ministry has grown from serving about 60 families a week to more than 450. WPC volunteers serve each week, bagging beans and rice at home and helping on-site at Wednesday's food giveaway. Westminster is honored to be a part of this vital ministry for the Durham community. Watch a special message of gratitude from Iglesia Emanuel's Pastor Julio and Martha Ramirez-Eve and see their food ministry in action (you'll see some familiar faces).

There are three ways you can give to the Christmas Offering. Click the box below to make an online gift, or text CHRISTMAS and your donation amount to 73256 (standard text message rates may apply). You may also mail a check to the church (make checks payable to WPC with "Christmas Offering" on the memo line). Thanks for your generous support!
