A Message from Gregory Knox Jones
Lent is a time in the life of the church for reflection and introspection, and to remember that unless we are willing to release destructive thoughts and actions – anger, selfishness, contempt, arrogance, revenge, inequity – we cannot be raised to new life in Christ – love, generosity, respect, humility, forgiveness, and justice.

TONIGHT: DVRC Efforts to Improve Voting Rights
Thursday, March 3, 7 p.m. on Zoom
Dwayne J. Bensing, Staff Attorney, ACLU Delaware and member DVRC
The Delaware Voting Rights Coalition (DVRC) is Delaware’s first statewide coalition of voting rights organizations and advocates. The coalition encourages voters and policy makers to consider reforms that will improve access to voting. The DVRC seeks to empower communities, especially communities of color, people who speak English as a second language, people involved in the justice system, and young people, to identify and remedy barriers to the ballot box. The DVRC seeks to work with legislators, local election officials and the Department of Elections to make these reform recommendations a reality. Please join in learning about this important work. Women Composer Sunday
Sunday, March 6
Members of the Society for Women Organists, the Royal College of Organists, and the American Guild of Organists will be commemorating International Women's Day, March 8, by programming organ and choral music by female composers on the weekend of March 4–6. Sunday’s anthem at Westminster will be Rosephanye Powell’s setting of Walk with Me, Lord, which was commissioned by the American Guild of Organists for the 2018 AGO National Convention. The Alabama native (b. 1962) and Westminster Choir College alumna has been hailed as the most often performed and published African American female composer of choral music of our time.

This Sunday, March 6, members of the Earth Care Task Force will be available to collect your signed Earth Care Pledge and hand you a WPC travel mug before and after each worship service. Unable to attend church? You can drop your signed pledge off during the week and get your mug. Don’t want a mug? We would still like to know you completed the pledge! Just drop your signed pledge off at church on Sunday morning or during the week (Tue – Fri, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.). Thanks to everyone who took the Code Red Pledge! Now spread the word!

Tread Lightly for Lent
Lenten calendars now available!
The Earth Care Task Force is distributing PC(USA)’s Lenten calendar, “Tread Lightly for Lent.” This calendar provides suggestions for reflection, prayer and Bible study during the Lenten Season. Hard copies are available on the literature table in the main hallway at church, or download a digital version (PDF). The calendar is another piece that reflects WPC's role as an Earth Care Congregation. We hope that you will find it a useful and interesting tool. It could be used for discussion in the home and as a resource to learn more about how the church family is trying to honor/respect God's creation. Westminster recently sent a variety of beautiful stoles to our partners in Guatemala. Betsey Moe (PCUSA Mission co-worker) and Arnoldo Aguilar (Coordinator of CEDEPCA's Biblical Theological Program) received the stoles last week in the CEDEPCA offices in Guatemala City and are grateful.

Out of One, Many

The tree trunk branches as it rises, the limbs multiplying as they divide, until an array of toothpick-thick fingers tickle the sky, each limb separate yet the whole still one tree. A single fertilized cell divides and becomes feet and arms, ears and eyes, belly and butt, the whole organism trying to survive, even flourish, as individuals we call Beatrice and Bob. And out of Adam came the multitude — families, tribes, cities, and nations. We can be, we will be, we are one as we reach toward the light.
