The Alumni / Student Connection
When alumni take the time to build relationships with current Westminster students, something special happens.
Maggie Long '19
attributes her acceptance into graduate school, in part, due to her mentoring relationship with
Dr. Graham Johnstone '66.
"...during my sophomore year, I emailed Dr. Johnstone, hoping to receive advice about preparing for the medical school application process. Rather than simply replying with a quick email back, Dr. and Mrs. Johnstone suggested that we meet for lunch at the Tavern in New Wilmington. During our time together, we talked about their journey through medicine from Dr. Johnstone's application to their most recent medical work in Africa. Dr. Johnstone's story was truly inspiring. He took the time to give me advice, providing support during a very stressful time. Dr. Johnstone later wrote me a letter of recommendation for medical school, which I feel greatly helped me receive my acceptance."
