Principal Message
Happy Friday!

This week we were able to reinstate SHIELD testing by using straws in place of the funnels that are on backorder. I was really proud of the flexibility students showed in tackling this new process! Only positive cases will receive notification from our school nurse Ann Martin.
Thanks to all our families that joined us for our first virtual PTO meeting. Our next meeting is Friday, November 12 at 2:20pm. We'd love to see you!

Don't forget the early release day on Thursday, October 14 @ 12:00pm for conferences. Please see below for the staggered dismissal times.

It's hard to believe but Halloween is fast approaching. Like last year, students will be allowed to come to school on Friday, Oct. 29 in costume. Students will need to come in costumes that are functional since they will be in them all day. Unfortunately, no schoolwide parade again this year, however, we will have classroom parties and use two parent volunteers that are vaccinated.
We are also planning to host the annual Kinder Family Fun Halloween event on Friday, Oct. 29 on the playground at 5:30.

Superintendent Search Online Survey Ends Oct. 14
If you have not already done so, the Board of Education welcomes your input in the search for a new Superintendent for Northbrook District 28. The board will use the information gathered from focus groups, open forums, and this survey to help create the profile of our next leader.
All responses are anonymous and confidential. A report summarizing all community engagement results will be published on the District 28 website after October 26 Board meeting presentation.
We request each person respond only once to this questionnaire which has been designed to allow one response per device. The survey will be available from September 21-October 14, 2021.

COVID Dashboard, Letters Monitor Cases
The district is maintaining a COVID dashboard to publish more detailed information on positive cases and student quarantines for close contact and travel. The dashboard is updated daily with newly reported positive cases of both students and staff as well as student quarantine daily averages.
The district will continue to notify staff and parents by email when a COVID-19 positive individual was in a school during their infectious period (48 hours prior to symptom onset for a symptomatic person or 48 hours before specimen collection for an asymptomatic person through the date of last attendance).
