Principal News
Happy Friday!

Well, today is feeling less like summer and more like fall but I'm hopeful that the weather will improve for the last few days of school. As this year comes to a close I'd like to thank our incredible families for the love and support you've shown all year. This year staff, students, and families had to be flexible and persevere through a lot of unknowns and I'm so proud of our entire Westmoor community. Thank you so much- your continued support has meant so much to all of us!!!

With our new PTO Board set - I'd like to send out a big thanks to our outgoing Board for all the work you've done on behalf of Westmoor. I'm especially thankful to Ena Chang, our outgoing PTO President who did a wonderful job navigating the many restrictions we had due to the pandemic. Despite the limitations, I appreciate the out-of-the-box thinking to hold events like STEM Night, family pizza nights, Science Fair, and Staff Appreciation Week. I look forward to working with our new Board and welcome to our new PTO President Jackie Earley!

Thanks to our PTO for the sweet end-of-year Westmoor bag for the K-4 students and NBJH shirts for our outgoing 5th-grade students. Families your K-4 students will be bringing home their Westmoor bags today!

Have a wonderful Memorial Weekend!

Just a friendly reminder that all students entering Kindergarten in the fall will need to submit a State of Illinois Certificate of Child Health Examination form completed within 1 year of the first day of school, an State of Illinois Eye Examination Report (due by October 15th) and a State of Illinois Proof of School Dental Form (due by May 15th, 2022).

All incoming Second graders and Sixth graders will be required to submit a State of Illinois Proof of School Dental Form by May 15th, 2022.
In the event your child requires medication during school hours, please follow these steps:
In collaboration with your child's physician complete the Medication Administration Request Form. Please note, the form needs to be signed by both the parent and physician and must be completed in full.
At the start of the school year, when dropping off the completed Medication Administration Request Form and your child's medication, please ensure the medication is in the original, labeled container. Also, please double-check to make sure the medication has not expired.
If your child has severe food allergies, please work collaboratively with your child's physician/allergist to complete the Allergy Emergency Care Plan. Please note, the form needs to be signed by both the parent and physician and must be completed in full.
If your child has asthma, please work collaboratively with your child's physician to complete the Asthma Emergency Care Plan. Please note, the form needs to be signed by both the parent and physician and must be completed in full.
If Possible, please submit any health forms prior to the noted deadlines, as this will assist our health office staff in ensuring your child’s records are up-to-date. Also, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or to provide information about any medical or allergy needs specific to your child prior to the first day of school.

Have a wonderful summer vacation!

Remote Learning Academy News
Dear RLA Parents,

You are a special group of parents who have lived the ups and downs of an entire school year literally beside your children. We are grateful for everything you did to help at home, while juggling all of your regular responsibilities, to ensure we could provide a new way to educate your children.

Thank you for helping to teach your child perseverance. Thank you for stepping in when needed and stepping back as required to help your child grow into a more independent learner. Thank you for your ever-present support for our staff so that they could do magic with your children. None of us were sure how this year would go (since living through a pandemic was new for all of us), and none of us could have imagined how extraordinary our teamwork would be.

We wish you a wonderful summer and well-earned break for you and your children. We look forward to seeing you back at school next year!

Gratefully,

District 28 Administrators and RLA Staff
