THE PRESIDENT’S CORNER
Halloween is behind us, and the frenetic energy of the holidays lies ahead. It’s a wonderful time of year, and we have some wonderful things going on at Weston Social.
The Welcome Back Block Party in September was a huge success. That was followed by the club’s first Potluck Cocktail Party in October, an amazing evening filled with fabulous libations and incredible food. The next big event is Dining In, a long-time favorite, where the committee chairs put together a delicious menu, complete from apps to dessert. The one on November 9 is a Texas BBQ, so bring your Stetson. And the grand finale for the year is the Holiday Party on December 7 at the Weston Field Club. It’s always a great time.
But lest you think we do nothing but eat and drink, you haven’t joined our Monday morning walks. We meet at 8:30 at a designated location and so far we’ve hiked in Trout Brook several times, Weir Farm in Wilton, the Norwalk River Trail and Devil’s Den. And we’re planning a leisurely stroll at Sherwood Island. There’s something for every activity level.
The Book Group continues its tradition of worthwhile reads, including books by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Tara Westover. Acclaimed author Catherine Onyemelukwe, will be a special guest at the Book Group meeting on November 21, when we discuss her book Breaking Kola an Inside View of African Customs.
For details on all of our activities…Mahjong, Lunch Bunch, Chick Flicks, Stitching…check out westonsocialclub.org . And be sure to sign up for the Holiday Party.
Cheers,
Susie Schneier,
Weston Social Club President
