Westport Weston
Chamber of Commerce,
Concours Consulting Partners,
invites you to the first
Concours d'Caffeine,
a gathering of classic car and modern day car club enthusiasts.
Modeled after a growing national trend of morning car club gatherings,
Concours d'Caffeine is the brain child of the same group of residents Bill Scheffler, John Shuck, Tim Walsh, and Frank Taylor who put together the
very popular Concours d'Eligance, formerly held at the Hunt Club.
This event will be held on Railroad Place and all the streets and parking lots adjacent
to the Saugatuck train station from 8am to 11am on Sunday May 17th. The event is open to the public, to bring their own cars to participate and for families and individuals to come and see all the beautiful automobiles.
The special theme of the event will be on Railroad Place, a featured exhibit of Connecticut's significant role in automotive history in the US as well as the role Saugatuck played in this history. In 1905, the Saugatuck-based Toquet Motor Car
and Construction Company, a manufacturer of automotive parts,
built a few 5-seater touring cars.
On display will be a dozen examples of classic vehicles designed and/or manufactured
in Connecticut. Some of these will include the classic Pope Hartford, the exciting Bridgeport Locomobiles, and classic Trumbulls, to the more recent Fitch Phoenix,
Sprint, and especially the Cunningham C3, designed by Briggs Cunningham,
a race car driver and sportsman from Westport.

Westport Historical Society in hosting an Art Stroll
Learn about three murals by one of Westport's
leading artists, the late
Robert L. Lambdin, during a May 28th walking tour hosted by the Westport Historical Society in partnership with the outdoor clothing and gear designer Patagonia. The "Lambdin Stroll" kicks off at the Patagonia store in the old Westport Bank & Trust Co. building, 87 Post Road East, at 6:30 p.m. and concludes at WHS headquarters, 25 Avery Place, a walk of about three- tenths of a mile. Kathleen Motes Bennewitz, Westport's Town Curator, will discuss how the three murals, commissioned by Westport Bank &Trust in the 1960s, relate to the history of Westport. "This is an example of the Society, the town and its merchants working together to celebrate a great Westport artist," said Edward F. Gerber, president of the Westport Historical Society. Gerber said he was grateful to Patagonia for opening the store after business hours to accommodate the tour.
Thursday, May 28th
6:30pm to 8pm
There is a $25 donation which includes a
catered reception generously donated by AMG catering and events.
