Westside Church of Christ
established in Jacksonville, Florida in 1930 under the teaching of Bro. Marshall
In the summer of 1930 Brother Marshall Keeble of Nashville, Tennessee was called to Jacksonville to conduct a gospel meeting in the black community by the white congregation of Riverside Park Church of Christ at 856 Margaret Street. The meeting was held for one week under a tent on Ernest Street in the area known as Mixon Town on the westside. As a result of the meeting 15 or 20 precious souls were baptized into the body of Christ. Hence the first African American congregation, among the churches of Christ within the city of Jacksonville Florida was established.

Our history is too numerous to tell to mention a few.....  The congregation moved from its storefront building on Run St to its first official edifice in 1934 to 1534  Dellwood & McCoy Blvd under the leadership of Bro. Walter Cox. .

Our son in the gospel Minister/Elder Charlie E. McClendon and family was added to the body of Christ in 1962  under the ministry of Bro. Cox.  Today, Bro. McClendon shephards the largest congregation among the churches of  Christ within the city of Jacksonville.

The blessing poured out on the Westside congregation are too numerous to tell and will always the first of many  ... the congregation moved to the  Springfield Community in 2001 at the corner of  8th St. &  Main St.,  the Historic Downtown Jacksonville  Community.

In 2017 we were blessed with the presence of an awesome family, teacher and workers in the family of   Minister  Thornton McIver (Valarie) Brown.  The blessing of the Lord remains upon us.  If it's the Lords will, we  are looking forward to celebrating our  92nd Anniversary in 2022.
