Greetings Westside Elementary Families!
Congratulations to Mr. Ott and all of our student-musicians on their amazing musical performances this past month! What a joy it is to bring all of our families together to enjoy the musical talents of our students.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the first half of our school year a fantastic experience for students and teachers. We accomplish great things when we work together and support one another. Thank you for all you do to support your student’s success.

We encourage parents and community members to visit our website for updated information on events and happenings at our school. The most reliable way to learn more about what is happening here at Westside Elementary School is through our website, reading the monthly newsletter, and reading the weekly emails from the office. We are interested in your feedback, so please send us your comments by email, by mail, or in person.

Procedure for Delays and Cancellations
In an effort to continue to improve communication with families and to ensure the safety of students, we will now send a Skylert message (phone, text, and email) for all weather related changes to our school day (late start, early dismissal, or cancellation).
Previously, we have relied on television and radio for the early morning late start or cancellation. We typically have only used the Skylert message system (phone, text, email) for early dismissals and other announcement and reminders.

It has become clearer to us that more and more families have discontinued the use of television in their homes, and/or do not listen to local radio. As a result, too many families were not getting those early morning messages in a timely manner.

For more information on how a decision is made to delay or cancel school, please visit our website. Follow the district's Facebook page and stay up to date on news and information.
Reminders
• If you have not already paid your elementary registration fee for the 2018-19 school year, please do so as soon as possible. Please note that this $15 fee rolls over from year to year.

• The cold weather season is in full swing and we have noticed some children coming to school without proper attire. Please make sure your children have coats, snow pants, hats and gloves on them when they come to school. If you need assistance in obtaining appropriate winter gear, please contact Mr. Bierman at (608) 963-5278.
Parents Joins Us On March 12:
Let's Talk Drugs
Please join us for a Free Dinner and Panel Discussion: The Top Five Questions Kids Have About Alcohol & Other Drugs and How to Answer Them. You talk to your kids about lots of dangers. What do you need to talk about when you talk about alcohol and other drugs?

"Let's Talk Drugs" (PDF)   is the title of this panel discussion being held on Tuesday, March 12 at 6:00 p.m. at the Reedsburg Country Club, 3003 E. Main Street, Reedsburg, WI. We encourage parents of all age groups to attend this free meal followed by a discussion.
