March 3, 2022
Hello, Westview families,

Spring is coming, and our end-of-the-school-year calendar is jam-packed with both on and off-campus activities. Frequently check the CALENDAR AT A GLANCE section of our Westview Weekly for the most up-to-date information. The Westview administration has already started the process of planning for the next school year, and you will see below the release of our 2022-2023 Academic Year Calendar.

We are also happy to announce some additional changes to the following COVID protocols, effective Monday, March 28, 2022.

  • Weekly Health Screenings will no longer be required for staff and students upon entry to The Westview School. We ask that families take time to self-screen before starting the school week. If your child is sick, please keep them home.

  • Temperature checks of staff and students will no longer be required before entering The Westview School.

As previously communicated, The Westview School is currently mask optional. The term optional means that each individual staff member and family will be allowed to make their own choice about masking regardless of vaccination status. This means that some teachers may choose to continue wearing a mask in our classrooms, and some families may choose to have their children continue masking. We will respect and support each individual’s decision regarding wearing a mask. As a school, we will not ask anyone to remove their mask.

For more details on our COVID-19 policy, visit the COVID-19 page on our website.

We thank you for your continued support, confidence, and trust. Together we remain Westview Strong.

February Wonder Wall Winners
Wow! Yazan has come such a long way this year! He comes in every day and greets his teachers and friends with a big smile. He is also friendly to all students and staff. Yazan works hard and never fails to give it his all. His Kindergarten teachers think he is TRULY out of this world and is so thankful to have him in class this year! Big things are ahead for our friend Yazan, and we can’t wait to see how he continues to flourish and grow. Congratulations to Yazan for being a February Westview Wonder Wall Winner!
Chris sure is an Out of this World Middle School student! Chris has shown an incredible amount of growth. Not only has he learned how to interact with his peers and teachers in a way that communicates respect and kindness, but he’s also learned how to welcome feedback and take it on to help him improve himself and his schoolwork. His teachers often call on him to help the other students, and he does so in a way that really helps them learn, not just give them the answer. We are beyond impressed with how Chris has stepped up to the plate this year and become a mature and enthusiastic member of our Middle School team! Huge congratulations to Chris for being a February Wonder Wall Winner!
Westview is thankful to our many contributors to WestviewEDU during this academic school year. Westview welcomed Dr. Traci L. Jordan, Psy.D., LSSP, Clinical and School Psychologist at InBloom Autism Services earlier this school year. Dr. Jordan discussed the topic of best practices in sharing with your child the diagnosis of autism. In addition to her virtual presentation, Dr. Jordan has also contributed a written version of her discussion to share with our community.

Read more about the How, When, and What to Tell Your Child About the Diagnosis of Autism on the latest post to the Westview Blog.
Join us online TONIGHT for WestviewEDU - Thursday, March 3 at 7:00 PM via ZOOM. Brandi Timmons, M.Ed, BCBA, LBA, Education Director at Social Motions Skills will discuss with our families some strategies and programs available for students transitioning into high school and young adulthood, and why it’s never too early to prepare.

Be Our Guest at The Westview School Fundraising Luncheon
Be our Guest at The Westview School Fundraising Luncheon. The event is back in person at River Oaks Country Club. Please save the date for Wednesday, March 30th, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, and join our community in support of The Westview School.

We need the help of our families to make this event a success. We are looking for individuals to host a table for the luncheon. Here is how it works: Register here as a guest or table host. Then, you invite friends, family, co-workers to sit with you at our luncheon and learn all the great things Westview is doing for our students.
It costs nothing to host a table. The event is FREE to attend for all guests, but registration is required. At the event, there will be a short program with both student and parent speakers concluding with a soft ask for donations from our Board of Directors. If you have guests interested in supporting The Westview School, please consider hosting a table and extending an invitation to them. Think friends, family, neighbors, business associates, professionals, and church members.

Questions? Email Roger Browning, Director of Development.
