When you tie into an existing water main, you can either shut the whole system down to connect the new pipe, or wet tap it while the system is up and running under pressure.

A tapping sleeve is used to cover the existing pipe and then a valve is connected to the sleeve, where the tapping machine (basically a type of drill) is used to cut through the side of the existing pipe to add to the system.
The advantage to this process is that homeowners and businesses don’t have a gap in services, and we don’t have to test the water.
