Greetings dear friends,

My Ash Wednesday email this year centered around the radical notion of embracing a "Do Nothing Lent." Much to my great surprise I got more positive feedback from that email than anything I've shared in a long time! Seems like it was "much ado about nothing!" Ha! :-)

Why would this idea of "nothing" resonate so deeply with folks? I'm going to go out on a limb here and venture a guess that many of us feel so overextended, overworked and just plain tired that getting off the roller coaster for even just a brief moment of "nothing" sounds absolutely blissful!

You know, the truth is that "doing nothing" is actually "doing something" critically important for our spiritual wellness - it is embracing our sacred call to SABBATH.

We need stillness. We need rest. We need silence.

Where will you find space for sabbath stillness amidst the cultural cacophony of your daily life? Can you "do nothing" for just a few minutes each day and turn your attention toward God "on purpose?"

Perhaps you are being nudged toward a time of extended stillness and silence. If so, I warmly invite you to join me for the Belly of the Whale 3 day/3 night Silent Retreat this summer. The little video below is a heart-felt invitation to this sacred time of sabbath, rest and renewal. What a blessing it would be to share these 3 days & 3 nights of sacred silence together!

As we journey on through Lent, my prayer will continue to be that you find sacred space to "do nothing" even amidst the pressure you may feel to "do everything."

Take a deep breath. Be still and know.

Peace,
Sharon

Words of Inspiration
“God cannot be found in noise and restlessness.
God is the friend of silence.
See how nature — trees, flowers, grass —
grows in silence;
see the stars, the moon, and the sun,
how they move in silence…
we need silence to be able to touch souls.”
