Yoga at CPL

In collaboration with Yoga Neighborhood, CPL hosts a FREE Hatha yoga at CPL on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10:30am-11:30am. We welcome you to join us either in-person or via Zoom!
The instructor will lead class indoors in our community room. Don't forget your mat!

In this FREE two-hour workshop, Joan Berglund, certified Stott® Pilates instructor, will review the basics of the Stott® method of Pilates through physical practice and a discussion of theory.
The Essential matwork repertoire is beginner-friendly but experienced practitioners can also learn ways to deepen their understanding of Pilates-based movement.

Falmouth Road Race History

The history of this fascinating race spans 47 years, and Clerici, an award-winning journalist and freelance writer, will share the behind-the-scenes tales and tidbits he’s culled from hundreds of interviews with runners and supporters connected with Falmouth’s famous 7-miler.
This compelling story is told through nearly 80 vintage and race-day photographs that span decades, including some which have never been published before. Author Paul Clerici is also the author of the “Boston Marathon History by the Mile” and “History of the Greater Boston Track Club” books.

Live in an Orca pod with WDC!

Learn to live in an Orca pod at this team-building program with experts from the Whale and Dolphin Conservation! (Details below) Program is for ages 6+, space is limited, registration is required.
WDC’s Team-Building Program is designed to cultivate and strengthen community and culture. Participants will act as an orca pod (group) experiencing a series of intentional challenges that promote teamwork, communication, and trust. Each challenge is accompanied by a mindful debrief that allows participants to safely and openly share their thoughts, ideas, and attitudes.

Calling all teens for weekly poetry writing workshops this summer!
Local poet Carol Traynor-Mayer will lead weekly poetry workshops for teens this summer in the Young Adult Room at CPL. Participants do not need any experience reading or writing poetry!
The workshops will involve reading from a variety of poems with themes teens care about written by a diverse range of poets. Pizza will be provided!

Bliss, the Therapy Dog

Come visit Bliss and her handler Lisa Falkson this summer! Bliss is an 8 year old German Shepherd and certified therapy dog who brings joy to others with her gentle spirit. Come read her a book or just visit with and learn more about her.

Social Group for Neurodivergent Teens

BEGINS AUGUST 12
Our amazing volunteer Isadora Greenberg, a passionate advocate and role model for Cape Advocates Standing Together, will be the group leader. Isadora understands the social challenges a young person with autism and ADHD faces, so this inclusive group is a safe space to be and celebrate YOU!
Activities will be determined by the interests of the participants. We will share a variety of sensory items, but feel free to bring your own and/or noise-cancelling headphones.
Group for ages 13-18. Registration required (limit 10), siblings welcome, caregivers may be asked to supervise.

Sensory Friendly Storytime
Wednesdays| 11am |IN-PERSON
BEGINS SEPTEMBER 21
Weekly 20 minute Storytime limited to 6 children (of all participation levels) and especially welcoming to those with sensory sensitivities. We’ll enjoy stories, songs, dancing and bubbles followed by free play until noon.
We have wiggle chairs and will share a variety of sensory items, but feel free to bring your own and/or noise-cancelling headphones.
Registration required—please share any triggers or challenging behaviors and let us know how best to support you. Caregiver participation required, siblings welcome.

Artist of the Month: Guy Giammasi
Centerville resident Guy Giammasi is a retired teacher who has always been interested in art. He finds painting to be a fun hobby, albeit frustrating at times. When not painting, you can find Guy coordinating CPL's Alice Owen Williams' Bookstore and serving on the library's Board of Trustees.

In collaboration with YMCA Cape Cod, the Kids Summer Lunch Program is coming to Centerville Public Library!
Beginning June 16 and running throughout the summer, kids 18 years old and younger can get a free bagged meal.
Visit us on the back patio at 12pm to receive a meal and enjoy the sunshine.
First come, first served. Meals must be eaten on site.
