WRFI Impact Stories

We often hear amazing stories of successes that members of the WRFI community have experienced in their lives. We are so proud of the accomplishments of our alumni and instructors that we wanted to shine a light on their stories and share them with you. So, once each month we will share a WRFI Impact Story here. And, if you know of WRFI alumni or instructors (current or past) whose impact should be shared, let us know! We might create an impact story about them too.

Art As Climate Action

The 5th Annual Climate Assessment Includes Art as

A Means of Fighting Climate Change

Art × Climate is the first art gallery to be featured in the National Climate Assessment. The US Global Change Research Program issued a call for art with the understanding that, together, art and science move people to greater understanding and action. The call received more than 800 submissions, and the final collection features the work of 92 artists. Their work, which represents all 10 NCA regions, offers a powerful depiction of climate change in the United States—its causes and impacts, as well as the strength of our collective response.

Two of this year's featured artists, Xavier Cortada and Jill Pelto, helped to inspire WRFI's Southwest Climate Studio Art course. We're so appreciative of those doing this important work to bring awareness and inspiration to creative climate activists!
