Dear Member of the Make-A-Wish Northern Alberta Family,

In these challenging times, we are all navigating through uncertainty for ourselves, our loved ones and our community. Our thoughts go out to anyone who has been impacted. And we hope that you, your family, friends and colleagues are safe and well, and are taking the necessary precautions to keep it that way.

We wanted to reach out and assure you that we remain committed to our mission of granting the wish of every eligible child fighting a critical illness. At Make-A-Wish® our priority is keeping our wish kids and families, community supporters, volunteers and employees safe. To that end, we wanted to share with you how we are managing wish granting in this unprecedented time.

Following guidance from national and international public health and government organizations, including the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and in close consultation with Make-A-Wish National Medical Advisors, we are adopting measures to keep the best interest of the children and families we serve. Your safety stays at the centre of all decisions we make.

At this time, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the granting of all wishes, until further notice , as well as wish kid participation in all activities and events related to Make-A-Wish that involve large gatherings. We are also suspending in-person interactions with volunteers and employees of the Foundation.

As always, we remain committed to our vision of granting the wish of every eligible child fighting a critical illness and fulfilling every child’s unique wish. We therefore continue to work, virtually, planning the pending wishes and to come. We also remain at your disposal to answer any concerns, or questions related to activities of the Foundation.

As the days and weeks progress, we will keep you informed and up to date, but should you have any question, contact us by email to nalbertachapter@makeawish.ca .

We also want to thank you for your unwavering commitment to our mission, and our wish kids and their families. Without you, it simply would not be possible to bring the much-needed hope and joy.

Thank you for helping us transform the life of children with critical illnesses, one wish at a time.
