PCHS Prevention Coordinator Larissa Fomuke moved from TMJH to the high school this school year and is expanding wellness programming to older students.

Wellness initiatives in PCSD, funded by PCEF, continue to evolve and redefine student success through positive reinforcement, connection, trust and everyday moments that help students feel seen and supported.

• The high school is expanding wellness initiatives to older students in the third year of the Wellness Pilot, funded by a gift from the Alnoba Lewis Family Foundation.

• Yondr cell phone pouches are helping to keep students off phones and engaged during the school day.

• Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) programming is effective throughout the district, and Parley's takes on a new approach with Conscious Discipline.

🛝 Many of Life’s Lessons Can Be Learned on the Playground 💭

Parley's Park Elementary is taking social emotional learning to the playground with the help of Conscious Discipline and new "Time Machines" to help students resolve conflicts together, thanks to PCEF Classroom and Express Grant funding.

“Since many social struggles and disagreements happen during recess, we wanted to provide a visual and physical space for students to practice the Conscious Discipline steps they learn in Life Skills," counselor Heidi Gwinn shared. "The Time Machines support student wellness by teaching emotional regulation, empathy, communication, and problem-solving in a safe and structured way.”
