5 Signs Your Condominium May Need Concrete Restoration

1. Cracks in Concrete Surfaces

While some minor cracking is normal, larger or expanding cracks may indicate underlying structural issues. Cracks can allow moisture to penetrate the concrete, accelerating deterioration and corrosion of reinforcing steel.

2. Concrete Spalling

Spalling occurs when pieces of concrete begin to chip, flake, or break away from the surface. This is often caused by corrosion of embedded reinforcing steel, which expands as it rusts and places pressure on the surrounding concrete.

3. Rust Stains on Concrete

Rust-colored staining on concrete surfaces often indicates moisture intrusion and corrosion of reinforcing steel beneath the surface.

4. Delaminated or Hollow-Sounding Concrete

Not all deterioration is visible. In many cases, concrete may appear sound while hidden voids or separations exist beneath the surface.

5. Water Intrusion and Moisture Problems

Persistent moisture is one of the leading causes of concrete deterioration. Water intrusion can contribute to reinforcing steel corrosion, coating failures, and structural damage.
