Dear friend of theONswitch:

As you know, I'm a big believer in the strategic business/life recap.

In grade school, we all had to write/present a "What I Did With My Summer" essay. I learned to become a better storyteller and summarizer.

I perfected the business version of that skill during my corporate career, sitting in a stuffy conference room with demanding and impatient leaders.

The format for those business presentations is basically a VERY short list of accomplishments, learnings, and next steps. It's typically used to convince management and your Board that you actually did something meaningful. It's a great skill to have.

That's why I assigned our three summer associates the task of summarizing their summer at theONswitch & nunu ventures.

Now, back to school/work everyone!

I'm a 22-year-old journalism & photography graduate from Northern Arizona University with eclectic interests. My true loves are writing, music & art. Whether I’m playing in front of a crowd of 5,000 people or writing about AI and robotics (see below), I'm inspired.

My Superpowers
Writing (and researching obscure topics), playing music.

Why I Took the Job
After a random string of events, I messaged Nancy. She met my father while he was wandering aimlessly around a Phoenix networking event. Thanks to fate, Nancy was in need of an associate. I’ve already learned how to turn my passion into $$.

Work Highlight
Seeing my byline in Embrace the Machine. Finally updating my LinkedIn profile.
Worst Mistakes & Learning Moments
Not keeping Nancy aware of my progress on projects.
We now have weekly calls, which helps a lot!

Most (Non-Work) Summer Fun
Playing shows throughout LA with different bands.

Looking Forward To…
Taking on more projects, especially content writing.
I just started my senior year at Arizona State University as a sociology major.

My Superpowers
Writing, marketing, and knowledge of the restaurant industry. (I'm a PT server too.)

Why I Took the Job
My goal this summer was to find an opportunity in a new field of work. I never heard about content marketing prior to the summer.

Work Highlight
I learned how Nancy operates her business and who she is as a person. I also helped create these brochures (below) and assisted in writing a white paper.
Worst Mistakes & Learning Moments
Not communicating when unforeseen circumstances deterred me from completing a big client project. I learned that there really is no such thing as over-communicating.

Most (Non-Work) Summer Fun
Visiting North Lake Tahoe with my family.

Looking Forward To…
This fall is the start of my final year in college and I’m
extremely excited to attack it and get the most out of the college experience.
I’m a rising junior at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in PPE (Politics, Philosophy, Economics) and minoring in statistics.

Why I Took the Job
I met Nancy through a fellow UPenn grad. I wanted to learn more about traditional marketing because I'm not learning about it in college.

My Superpowers
Writing, video editing, and food and fashion savvy.

Work Highlight
I loved being in person with Nancy at the Summer Fancy Food Show. We shot videos and looked for potential business opportunities.
Worst Mistakes & Learning Moments
I failed to tell Nancy about my vacation plans and didn't
realize the importance of speed and deadlines.

Most (Non-Work) Summer Fun
I went to Korea this summer to visit my family after six years of being apart.

Looking Forward To…
Taking a gap year and pursuing my career.
