April 8, 2021 - Correction
I apologize for having to send a corrected issue but I made a mistake in Deacon Vicki Hanrahan's email address under the ordination anniversaries prayer section. Her correct email is [email protected]. I apologize for the error and appreciate your understanding.

Welcome!
Welcome to our new What Matters e-newsletter. Our goal is to continue to provide our congregations and leaders streamlined information that is timely and relevant while following our mission to care, connect, and equip the congregations of our synod to practice ministry in this ever changing world.

As always we would love for you to continue to share your news. If you have something you would like considered for publication in What Matters, send it to us via email at [email protected]. The deadline for consideration of inclusion in the current weeks e-newsletter is 12:00 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday.
We Need Your Info!
Marie Leafblad, Associate to the Bishop for Leadership, is looking to update our synod’s Children, Youth and Family directory to help build our already amazing team. Congregations, please email her your current contact for Children, Youth and Family ministries (volunteer, paid, lay leader, etc.). Once this directory is created, it’ll help us provide resources, help us build community together and help us guide conversations surrounding the upcoming 2022 ELCA Youth Gathering (the planning cycle starts soon!).

Planning for Bishop's Convocation
We are excited to begin the process of planning Bishop’s Convocation in the Fall of 2021. We are looking to gather a planning team that can help us dream, plan, and prepare a unique and inviting time together. If interested in helping, please contact Marie Leafblad, Associate to the Bishop for Leadership or Bishop Joy with your contact information and a little of why you’re interested. Or…if you know someone that might be a good fit, please send them our way!

ELCA Domestic Hunger Grants
ELCA World Hunger Domestic Hunger Grants accompany congregations and their partners throughout the United States and Caribbean as they draw on the strengths of communities to address local issues such as food security, clean water, housing, job readiness, human rights, policy change, leadership development and more. Together, these ministries are part of a comprehensive approach to breaking the cycle of poverty and hunger — for good.

The Greater Milwaukee Synod - ELCA and Siebert Lutheran Foundation are co-sponsoring a one-day event called “The Digital Reformation" on Saturday, April 17. The purpose of the conference is to highlight the transformation that has occurred in congregations as we embrace digital technology to create communities of faith. The goal is to weave the story of God through the church and its members into an unfolding narrative for communities to experience online. This is a free event that is open to anyone from Wisconsin.
