To Our Father's Community, Colleagues, Students and Friends,

Today, we are releasing the last article that our father wrote on the Enneagram, one he finished the day before he passed.  The topic is "Temperament and the Enneagram," and it's a topic he had studied for years and had collaborated on with academic others, including Dan Siegel, Jack Killen, and Laura Baker. Their study explored the biological underpinnings of the Enneagram system itself.  We hope that you enjoy this article.

And mainly and importantly, we would like to reach out to our father's community to thank you for all of your heartfelt emails, letters, and contributions to David's Memorial and memorial funds.  Your kind words, sharing of experiences, and hearing about how our father touched your lives has been life-giving for us.

We are so grateful for your kind acts of condolences and appreciation.

Warmly,

Denise Daniels and JD Daniels

D avid's background as a medical doctor combined with his deep interest in the biological side of the Enneagram's profound consistency led to much study, collaboration with other experts in the field, and many a conversation about the critical importance of seeing, recognizing with compassion, and understanding our varying personality structures and innate differences. All of this would hopefully lead to living and loving far more harmoniously and peacefully.

To the many compelling and inquisitive, passionate conversations shared with David in his last years, it's with great pleasure that we now share his last written article with you, one he had been working on for a while and had wanted  very much to share with his community.

In Reverence of Beloved David,
Suzanne Dion

BLOG OVERVIEW:   Temperament and the Enneagram |  How Our Somatic Reactions Tell
Us Much About How We Are Wired...

H ave you noticed that in addition to each of us manifesting a particular personality pattern (easily recognized once you study the Enneagram system, I might add), that we also manifest identifiable "physical" somatic patterning as well, patterns that stay with us across a lifetime?

For example, we can see that one person may be quiet, more withdrawn per se, taking time to respond to situations while another person may be notably loud, quick to respond, and confrontative even? Some of us are more naturally outgoing, "extroverted," whereas others can be more reserved, "introverted."  Some of us are quickly irritated, whereas others rarely get upset; some respond aggressively, whereas others respond more gently or not at all.

Did we "choose" how we responded to situations when we were little, on up? Or, did "something inside of us," something about the way we are each wired, choose the response seemingly automatically, for us?  Mothers often say that they experienced their...  Read More >>
