Friends,
What Would You Take from YOUR Burning House?
A Sobering Answer Found in our Latest Report from DRC
Last month, Mwema Bertin (ROYS Country Leader in DRC), shared a prayer request from his hometown of Goma where thousands of IDPs have fled to and are now living in refugee camps. (*The UN estimates that there are over 5.8 million Internally Displaced People living in DRC and that 800,000 people have fled from eastern DRC since January of 2022. voanews.com; jurist.org) As he was walking through a refugee encampment, set up to care for the people who fled from M 23 rebels, he came across several of the pastors and youth leaders whom our team had previously trained in Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry.
While fleeing Islamic extremists (who have been responsible for murders, rapes, and the destruction of homes and churches), these leaders entered the camp clinging to only a few physical items they carried with them in their hasty escape. One of the items Mwema noticed in their belongings was their JFYM training booklet! The leaders talked about how they were regularly meeting together in the camp to “pray with passion” and that they were hopeful that God would bring peace back to the land. The pastors and youth leaders now living in these camps have very little access to food, medicine, or clothing.
Please pray for these church leaders, their families, and church members.

Pray that they will be able to receive the food, medicine, and clothing that they need.

Pray for Reach Out as we ascertain the knowledge necessary to be able to coordinate a response that can help meet their needs at this time.

And join with our brothers and sisters there in praying that God would bring peace to their land, and salvation to the younger generation in DRC.
Jesus is Lord,
