Have You Explored the New Legislative Bill Tracker System Yet?

To access the monitoring system, you must be logged into your ATMIA account. Click on the Advocacy/Regulatory Monitoring and the legislative tracking data option to view the Legislative Bill Tracker list. If you previously had preferences for which states are monitored, those preferences are still in place.

In addition, you can select which bills you would like to monitor, in any of 6 different categories. A summary of the bill information on our website is linked to the tracker list, as well as its page on the state website.

This is a great new resource with improved features and functionality. If you were monitoring state activity last year, you can pick up right where you left off. If you got frustrated with all the emails generated by the previous system and turned it off, do take a look at this new tool.

ATMIA Welcomes John Campbell IV as Senior Director, USA and Americas

The ATM Industry Association (ATMIA) has appointed John C. Campbell IV as Senior Director, USA and Americas, bringing nearly three decades of experience across the ATM, payments, and financial services industries to the leadership of ATMIA’s largest and most influential region.

In this highly visible role, Campbell will lead ATMIA’s regional strategy across the United States and Americas, with a focus on strengthening member value, advancing industry advocacy, expanding engagement, and elevating ATMIA’s presence and influence throughout the region.

Cashless Ban’d Wagon Update

The Cashless Ban'd Wagon interactive map is still posted on the U.S Home page. Although 27 states introduced bills to require acceptance of cash last year, only one was passed. So far this year, only 12 have introduced such legislation. Illinois HB4592 was passed and signed into law. Retailers must accept in-person retail payments of less than $500 in cash and may not post signs stating that cash is not accepted. Oddly enough, the law does not apply to sales made between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Penalties are fines of up to $500 per incident.

Cashless bans are still under consideration in 6 states – Texas, Missouri, Minnesota, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Vermont.
