The Top 5 Drone Regulations You Need To Know Now

Look! Up in the air!...It's a bird!...It's a plane!...no wait...it's a flying camera! Well, so to speak. It's a DRONE. More and more of MMG clients are requesting that our crews provide drones with go pro cameras (or other formats) that can shoot video from above. And the laws can be confusing and restricting about air space, privacy laws, etc. So, as the drone industry grows, it becomes more critical that drone operators follow the rules and fly safely. The FAA is increasingly enforcing regulations; and drone operators risk fines and possible jail time for serious infractions. If you've just purchased a drone - or are just realizing that there are rules that may apply to you - HERE is an easy article that explains the top 5 regulations every drone operator (and end user) should know.

Maslow Media Group was on the scene, on August 25th, to assist in the video production of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service (NPS). MMG's team was at the naturalization ceremony in Grand Canyon Village, Arizona. Sweeping pictures were captured by MMG's Director of Photography, Matt Nelson, who rigged a DVX200 camera on the jib arm, allowing him to zoom remotely, as new citizens took part in the ceremony which represented the partnership between USCIS and NPS.

Illinois Employers Who Provide Sick Leave Must Allow Workers to Use It for Children and Family Members

Jennifer Cerven, Lexology

Employers who provide sick leave benefits for employees in Illinois will soon have to allow employees to use their accrued paid sick time to care for their children and other family members and not just for their own illnesses.

Starting January 1, 2017, any Illinois worker who is entitled to sick leave will be able to use it for absences due to an illness, injury, or medical appointment for a child, spouse, or certain other family members on the same terms as sick leave is allowed for the employee's own illness or injury.

The Employee Sick Leave Act, which Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner recently signed into law, states that an employee may use his or her employer-provided sick leave for absences "for reasonable periods of time as the employee's attendance may be necessary" to take family members to medical appointments or otherwise attend to their illnesses or injuries.
