Most New Legislation Takes Effect on July 1st
Including Recreational Marijuana Legalization

Every year on July 1st, new legislation goes into effect all across Maryland. This year, Adult-Use Recreational Cannabis becomes legal in the state. As you prepare for this, we want to make sure you know the laws and have information to help you use responsibly.

Free Breakfast and Lunch for Kids
AACPS' Division of Food and Nutrition Services is providing free breakfast and lunch to children ages 2 to 18 at sites around the county during the Summer of 2023. There are no income or registration requirements.
Meals must be consumed at school or mobile meal sites. More Info HERE

Unity Gardens Grant Application Now Open
Unity Gardens is currently accepting proposals until August 1, 2023, for native gardening projects in Anne Arundel County. Unity Gardens awards grants to HOAs, places of worship, and local nonprofits to complete citizen-led conservation landscaping projects in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel Scholarship Trust is hosting a HBCU Summer Camp which will be another wonderful experience where children will spend the summer learning, while being active and having fun!

Gun Safety Lock Giveaway
Residents 18 years and older can receive up to two gun safety locks at the Busch Annapolis, Eastport-Annapolis Neckand Glen Burnie libraries. No library card is needed to participate, and no proof of residency is required.

Volunteer Anglers Wanted
Maryland Department of Natural Resources needs your participation in their Striped Bass Volunteer Angler Survey. The information you provide helps the Department of Natural Resources monitor harvest and catch data.

Roadwork in Annapolis
Some notable changes to parking, traffic flow and street closures will continue through the end of 2023:
- Bladen Street in-bound and outbound closed.
- Parking in Carroll Street Garage remains open during this time.
- Pedestrian traffic down Bladen has been altered, hindering the ability to travel beyond the Senate Building main entrance and HOD Building main entrance.
- This closure of Bladen Street will also close College Ave. at Church Circle (see MOT plan)

- Mills Parole Elementary School, 1 George & Marion Phelps Lane Annapolis, MD, every 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month 10:00am-12:00pm.
- Asbury United Methodist Church, 87 West St Annapolis MD, has a food pantry available ever Wed. and Fri. from 9AM - 11AM.
- Heritage Baptist Church, 1740 Forest Drive Annapolis MD, has food giveaway every Tuesday 9:30am-11am (must provide ID and proof of residency)
- First Baptist Church of Annapolis, 31 W. Washington Street, gives away pantry bags and prepared meals every Saturday, 11 am - 1 pm
- Discoveries: the Library at the Mall in Westfield Annapolis Mall, gives away baby/infant supplies and menstrual products every Saturday from 10 am - 12 pm.
- Cornerstone Church: Rotating HACA communities on the second Saturday of each month (May - Bloomsbury, June - Eastport, July - Morris Blum, August - Robinwood). Each giveaway will be 12:30pm 2:30pm.
