Coronavirus. By now, many families have heard about it on TV, read about it online, talked about it at work or in school, but there are still a lot of questions surrounding this virus. With news of the coronavirus COVID-19's continued spread, sorting through the information can feel overwhelming and scary. While the coronavirus risk level remains low in Georgia, children may still have a lot of questions.

GPB Education will be live streaming from the City of Smyrna Recycling Center in Smyrna, Georgia on
Wednesday, May 13, 2020, from 10 AM to 11 AM EST.
This live virtual field trip will offer students insight into the recycling process as they explore two types of recycling centers and see how one of the world's largest carpet manufacturers repurposes plastic bottles. Students will also learn how they can reduce, reuse, and properly recycle in order to protect the environment and reduce pollution.
This event includes live interactive elements, such as polls and experts who are available to answer students' questions. Use

It's time to sharpen those pencils! GPB invites Georgia students in kindergarten through third grade to create a great story, illustrate it, and enter it in our
PBS KIDS Writers Contest.
The deadline for submissions is March 20, 2020.
Stories can be fact or fiction, poetry or prose, and will be judged on originality, creative expression, storytelling, and integration of illustrations. A first, second, and third place will be chosen from each grade level. Additionally, four stories (one from each grade level) will be selected for the STEAM Award if their story effectively incorporates science, technology, engineering, arts, and/or mathematics.

PBS KIDS Edcamp for early childhood educators at Fountain Elementary School in Forest Park, GA. This "un-conference" is designed to share, collaborate, and learn from each other!
PBS KIDS EdCamp for Early Childhood Educators is focused on early learning for educators who work with preschool and pre-kindergarten children in schools, childcare centers, or family homes.

GPB Event Highlights NOVA: Polar Extremes
Join GPB at the Fernbank Science Center in Atlanta on Saturday, March 21, from 3-5 PM for
a special event highlighting
NOVA: Polar Extremes.
Polar Extremes shadows scientists as they follow a trail of fossils found in all the wrong places, beech trees in Antarctica, redwoods, and hippo-like mammals in the Arctic. NOVA uncovers the bizarre history of the poles, from miles-thick ice sheets to warm polar forests teeming with life.
Guests will enjoy clips from the 2-hour film, excerpts from the accompanying digital series Antarctic Extremes, and a chance to test drive the NOVA Polar Lab web-based experience.
