Iowa State University students,

We are quickly approaching the end of the fall semester. Many of you will be traveling for the extended winter break and some will be taking classes online. Be prepared by reviewing important resources below to help you succeed this winter.

Travel
Should you be traveling or returning home this winter break review Student Health and Wellness topics for Iowa State Students Returning Home. Take care of yourself and others by practicing healthy behaviors before and during travel, and while you are at your destination. If you are traveling internationally, be sure you review travel restrictions outside of the U.S. due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are an international student, International Students and Scholars Office will post information on their website detailing requirements for spring 2021.

Winter Session Courses
Winter Session courses are available for registration through December 16. You have a number of courses to choose from that apply toward graduation. Classes will be held Dec. 14- Jan. 21 and are all online. Additional information about winter session can be found on the Winter Session website.

Student Services over Winter Break
If you are taking classes during our inaugural Winter Session, several university departments will provide services to assist you with the accelerated course timeline. A few of these resources include:
  • The Academic Success Center will offer Drop-in Study Sessions for select courses and virtual academic coaching appointments.
  • The Writing and Media Center is offering virtual consulting. Sign up starting December 4.
  • Student Accessibility Services will offer accommodations for students who have a documented disability. Connect with SAS staff today if you need assistance with Winter Session courses.

Additional support services will be available from various student services units across campus over winter break. For office hours and how to contact each unit, check out the complete listing.

Living and Dining on Campus
All residence halls will be open during the extended winter break. Be aware that many halls require students to sign up if they plan to stay any dates December 20-January 6. All halls are available for spring move-in January 7. Any fall dining plans will be available through January 6.

Students Helping Our Peers (SHOP) Food Pantry will be open in 1306 Beyer Hall Tuesdays and Fridays 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. during winter break, excluding university holidays. Details about this on-campus food pantry can be found here.

Finally, Iowa State University will be closed several days throughout the extended winter break. These dates include November 26-30, December 1 and 24-25, and January 1. In case of an emergency, contact the ISU Police at 515-294- 4428 or 911.

Thank you for your commitment to the Cyclones Care behaviors as we navigated this challenging semester. Take care of yourselves, rest, and come back healthy and ready for a successful spring semester!

Go Cyclones!
