Chamber priority bill to help MBEs clears Ohio House
Recently, the Ohio House of Representatives approved SB105, bipartisan legislation that removes needless red-tape and unnecessary paperwork when minority (MBE), women (WBE) and veteran (VBE) entrepreneurs seek certification in Ohio. This legislation has been a priority for the Chamber since it was introduced last spring and worked closely with the bill sponsors to help streamline the process for these individuals when trying to do business in local municipalities.
Under current law, MBE, WBE, and VBE businesses must be certified separately in each jurisdiction where they seek to do business. SB105, sponsored by Senators Vernon Sykes and Kirk Schuring, requires Ohio's local governments to recognize state certifications, thereby eliminating unnecessary and duplicative paperwork for these entrepreneurs wishing to operate their business in Ohio.
Having been approved by both the Ohio House and the Ohio Senate, it is expected that it will be soon sent to the Governor for his signature.
