Dear Steve,
It’s been two weeks since I sent a call for help through my monthly blog about the overburdened HVAC system at Key Campus – calling all angels to look out for our unhoused neighbors ahead of the blistering summer heat.
The response has been phenomenal! Donations of all shapes and sizes are pouring in – and we’re already half way to our goal of $115,000 to replace two compressors.
The Arizona heat can feel oppressive, even overwhelming – yet as these past two weeks have shown, as a community, we’ve GOT THIS.
On any given day over 1,200 individuals will seek essential services and refuge from the oppressive heat in one of the several Campus buildings that rely on the chillers in need of repair.
Yesterday, 700 people were in the Lodestar Day Resource Center seeking ID assistance, meeting with their housing navigators, signing up for their DES benefits, and praying with a chaplain.
Last night, 600 people rested safely at CASS (Central Arizona Shelter Services).
Today, the Diane & Bruce Halle Brighter Way Dental Center, will provide compassionate oral health services to dozens of individuals, boosting their health, confidence, and dignity.
These individuals rely on Key Campus facilities as places of refuge and respite. They need cool air conditioning and so much more during this hot summer. Will you help them?
