Plan Your Journey: Your River, Your Adventure

We mapped over 750 river amenities now showcased on an interactive web map that has become an essential tool for trip planning on our Plan Your Journey webpage. It also includes recommended itineraries, gear lists, and other resources. Your passion for the river has truly shaped this exciting new chapter!
On the Global Stage: Tennessee RiverLine in the Spotlight
- We had the honor of being featured in an episode of Ken Whiting's "Facing Waves" TV show, airing nationally 85 times (with more airings scheduled this month) and reaching an estimated 3.08 million viewers, and three "Paddle Tales" YouTube episodes, which have garnered nearly 90k views.
In the Media: Showcasing Our Stories
- Our earned media had a combined audience over 304 million, with a media value exceeding $11.6 million. It is exciting to see our message amplified far and wide!
2023 Summit: A Gathering of River Champions
- At the 2023 Summit, more than 100 partners from across the country came together in Guntersville, AL, to celebrate our shared love for the river. The Summit ignited discussions, forged connections, and laid the foundation for future progress and new adventures.
RiverAnimation and Stewardship: Growing Together
- Almost 60 community animation and stewardship events brought us closer to the heart of the Tennessee River. Your participation and volunteerism have nurtured a vibrant community dedicated to the enjoyment and well-being of this extraordinary landscape. Together, we're making a lasting impact.
Community Impact Grants: Fostering Inclusivity
-
In 2023, the Tennessee RiverLine awarded Community Impact Grants, totaling $19,600, to communities enrolled in the Tennessee RiverTowns Program. These grants supported programming that fosters inclusive engagement, diverse participation, and pride in river spaces by historically underserved populations.
Paddlesports Leadership Academy: Nurturing Future Leaders
- In June, the Tennessee RiverLine hosted the second Paddlesports Leadership Academy, cultivating leaders who will guide the future of paddlesports. The leadership of eight new academy graduates will enhance outdoor recreation in their respective communities.
652 to YOU: Shaping the Future Together
- In September, open house exhibitions across the region showcased conceptual designs for new river amenities in seven communities inspired by the 652 to YOU program, a culmination of two years of collaborative effort. Your participation in virtual design workshops and community surveys shaped the vision for the river's future infrastructure in these communities.
Team Expansion: Empowering Our Vision
- We expanded our team from 5 to 12 members, positioning us to inspire and empower our community partners to realize their aspirations for a transformed relationship with the Tennessee River.
As we look ahead, the momentum of the Tennessee RiverLine is translating into new investments that will transform the quality of life and economic opportunities in river communities. This is a mission in action, a vision made manifest, and we're only just beginning.
Your continued support and enthusiasm have elevated the Tennessee RiverLine to new heights, and we can't wait to see what the future holds.
On behalf of the Tennessee RiverLine team, the UT Institute of Agriculture, and our principal partners, UT Knoxville and TVA, we wish you and your loved ones a joyous holiday season and a New Year filled with exciting river adventures!
