Seeking FUN for our engagement committee!

I am seeking individuals interested in serving on the 2024 RCLLG Member Engagement & Communications Committee. This is the group that gets together to plan FUN (a few informal RCLLG networking events throughout the year) and spread that fun in order to help build a strong RCLLG membership community.

Additionally, we need support in conducting personal outreach to both new and existing members. Please let us know if you are interested in being on the committee by replying to this email.

Thank you!

Climate Action in Ramsey County

Program Recap

Last Friday, February 9th, we welcomed a variety of guests who presented on various opportunities surrounding climate action in Ramsey County.

Abi Phillips, Ramsey County Climate & Health Planner, began by speaking on the creation of the County's climate action plan. This plan has not yet been released to the public. The plan is a public framework that articulates the importance of climate action for Ramsey County and identifies large-scale goals and the county’s role as a partner and leader.

How can RCLLG utilize the Ramsey County climate plan? Abi recommends, that, following the release of the County's plan in March, RCLLG uses it as a framework to develop multi-jurisdictional goals.

John Doan, Shoreview Council Member and RCLLG Treasurer, has been instrumental in RCLLG's collective action work with climate action. He and other members of the Collective Action Workgroup have outlined a process for setting multi-jurisdictional climate action goals. Next steps in the process include formation of the Climate Action Workgroup (CLAW) and pursuing funding.

Peter Lindstrom, Metropolitan Council Member, provided information on available grants and timelines, such as for the EPA's Climate Pollution Reduction Grants. He provided a variety of planning resources. Check out the notes for these resources!
