CENTRAL OHIO IS GROWING FAST!
LinkUS is our plan to prepare the city for the future through smart, connected development. So what does that look like?
Faster, more reliable public transportation
Safer and expanded bike and pedestrian paths
Walkable communities with affordable housing and access to work, home and play
10 years from now, Murdock said Central Ohio residents should also be able to choose from more than what’s currently available to get from point A to point B in and out of Central Ohio. The LinkUS initiative, which would expand public transit through a rapid bus system and additional connections, will get a vote on the fall 2024 ballot, Mayor Andrew Ginther said in his State of the City remarks in March.
In March, it was unveiled that the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) would be putting a levy on the ballot in 2024 to help pay for the ambitious $8 billion LinkUs transit expansion program that would bring high-capacity lines to dense corridors throughout the region.
City officials have said that the multimodal study will look specifically at several proposals from the Downtown Strategic Plan, such as dedicated transit lanes on Third Street and two-way protected bike lanes on both Broad Street and Fourth Street. That study will also look at COTA’s proposed LinkUs Bus Rapid Transit corridors and examine how those lines will connect with other bus lines Downtown.
