Mosquito Season is Upon Us...

Let's be real... mosquitoes never really left, but with the cold weather leaving and warmer temperatures coming back, we have started seeing more activity within these past few weeks.

Mosquitoes have been around since before the Jurassic period, meaning they're as old as dinosaurs! In all that time, there have come to be around 3,000 species of mosquitoes around the world, with over 200 species residing in the US.

Not all mosquitoes are the same, some mosquito species don't even bite! They are all unique depending on where they live.

They have about a 2 week to 6 month life span, and are a common food source for most insect-eating animals.

Unfortunately, the mosquitoes that live here do bite, which causes an allergic reaction, causing them to be a nuisance to us.

Mosquitoes prefer standing water or humid areas to lay their eggs. Areas such as canals or ponds are where you will likely find swarms of them.

They will bite any being with blood, including frogs, birds, and even other mosquitoes! Also, it is true: only the females bite. Males do not need the nutrients from blood like the females do in order to lay their eggs.

Mosquitoes can drink up to 3 times their own body weight in blood and transmit diseases such as Malaria or Zika.

We do offer a mosquito service that can help cut down on any activity you are seeing. Pricing will depend on lawn or shrub bed sizes and the treatable area.
